He flashes, but then does something stupid. He's criticized here more because so many expected the world with him. Nowhere near as bad as everyone makes him out to be, but he's gotta get rid of that enforcer attitude of his where he goes for the bug hit rather than the sure hit.
the only thing he has flashed all year is bad football

Jams Williams is around the ball on **** near every defensive play.
There’s players in the NFL Hall of Fame that can’t tackle so what.

The real question to ask yourself is are you a 5 star on your job?
Are you 5 star level at anything in life?

If not, let the guy develop. He plays for one the ****tiest fan bases on the globe. Give it a break.
Its the fan bases fault he hasn't seen the inside of the weight room in 2yrs and he flat out can't play! **** at least you didn't blame the coaches.

Yet he gets almost every play. There is no PT repercussions for his continued penalties.

How you do anything is how you do everything.
Mario and Steele have no leg to stand on not taking PT away from him. He has been a complete negative all year. been horrible. 6ft 5 been pole that can't run or tackle

Kid was a 5* based solely on size and athleticism. He has no business playing DB in college football…
So the evaluators don't assess football skills at all? No kid on the defensive side of the LOS should be rated as a 5 star when he lacks a major fundamental skill. In JWs case, the ability and/or willingness to tackle.

Where should he be playing? You can't hide inability to tackle anywhere on defense that I'm aware of.

he is too slow and stiff to be a DB
cant tackle to be a linebacker
too soft and light to be a DE

kid picked the wrong sport

recruiting sites aren't evaluators. They saw 6ft 5 DB and just said he was 5star, he had to be. what 6ft 5 safety isn't a 5star..........oh wait

I think they do see themselves as evaluators and attach star ratings accordingly. IIRC, a 5 star is defined by these services as a kid "who can play immediately and contribute."

haha they only exist to make money and who gives them clicks. Evaluating talent is last on the list of what they do.

Bottom line is they are pretty worthless as we well know from our recruiting of 5 Stars like Kyle Wright (POY in HS who was barely mediocre here), Lingard (who gave us nothing) and Forston (Nat'l Defensive POY who was adequate at UM, but certainly no world beater). And many others at the 4 and 5 star level who either underperformed at UM or were underdeveloped by our staff.

Footballville goes in depth on James Williams in the first part of this video.
I haven't watched the entire Live but in an interesting perspective.

Kam Kinchens & James Williams are the top 2 tacklers on this team. Think about that.
If safeties are your top tacklers, you have no good linebackers period.
JW’s tackles are volume tackles though, little impact. He doesn’t run the alley or attack run lanes. He sits back and waits for the runner to come to him. I watch all these nfl games and safeties who sprint to the ball, attack, and make open field 1:1 tackles……and I get so jealous. I haven’t seen that at Miami in many many years outside of Jaquan. Kam has that potential.

The problem is when safeties get high volume tackles it makes you wonder where are the linebackers
