James Pierre and Aaron Robinson

Something to keep in mind is the fact that we will play nickel so much more now under Diaz. Diaz actually plays nickel more than he plays base defense with 3 LB's.

Last year Miami played nickel the least amount of any P5 team in America. Seriously.

We need DB's not only to get through the season, but also to have enough players for scout throughout summer camp.

If we can't get Byrd to play Nickel early on, I suspect we'll have one of the 3 Safeties there. Jaquan is actually best in short area, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him used underneath in zone blitzes.

Anyone have any official numbers on Pierre? Outside of a handful of clips, his highlights were not helpful in assessing almost anything.

He looked 6'1 the last time I saw him. Not a sprinter but solid twitch and extremely light on his feet. The play at :48 gives a nice glimpse of his footwork and COD in zone coverage.

Ha. We must've been writing at the same time. He looked a bit like a Cover 3 corner to me. Not sure about fit, but I'd take him and figure it out later.

Yup. I posted the same thing yesterday. With Johnson's ability to tackle- and the importance that the nickel plays in run defense for Diaz- I could see Johnson filling that spot.

FYI

Robinson just picked up 2 offers.

Alabama and USC

Richt needs to do his thing here and reel this boy home. Saban wants him

James Pierre, Deerfield Beach HS S - Scout

Best I could find

6'2 170 with 4.63? How legit is that ?

Wish I could've seen more tight coverage and could tell how his make up speed was. Guys that physical with long arms can get away with being a tick slower than a shorter , weaker cb

i think he's a take and give a redshirt .

I am trying to remember a kid that was a virtual unknown blowing up this late 3 weeks from signing day that was local... Did his hudl film impress that much? The kid has stud measurables but sheesh..he is the hottest defensive player in SFla right now from the looks of it.

Gators let their DB coach go

Usually stuff like this sucks and hurst recruiting, but in this case it might be a positive for UF. Look up the Jayvaugn Meyer's story. Callahan has been turning off a lot of our top targets at DB. Straight up refused to call Carlos Becker back even after his coach brought him to Gainesville, ****ed off Jayvaughn Meyer's and caused him to decommit after not keeping in contact with him for weeks at a time, and apparently said he didn't know who Lavonte Taylor was even though he's one of the top corners in the country and had Percy Harvin pushing him to UF at one point in time. A lot of people thinks this was done to appease the Meyer's bros and get back into it with a couple other top targets. The DB unit also did not perform up to expectations this year.

But it still seems like poor timing because even with all those issues unless they already have somebody lined up there will still be uncertainty for some recruits. And it's obviously too late with Becker and Taylor.

Aaron Robinson is my favorite under-the-radar commit in the whole class, worried he may be an academic casualty. If he can't get into Uf then I wouldn't think Miami could get him in. Bama should be able too though, so that's something to watch.

Yea Robinson supposedly isn't gonna qualify which is why he's tripping. Bama can get just about anybody in though so I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up there or Tennessee.

Was your DB coach living under a rock or was he just arrogant or just stupid? This type of incompetence can get you banned from coaching again at any level this side of Pop Warner..

Mostly arrogant. Thought he was gods gift to DB coaching.
