One of the biggest issues with Golden, with some, was the amount of attrition. He let a LOT of kids walk his first 3 years here. Either booted, or just let go. Were there some more that could have been shown the door? Sure. However, you can't simply release every player that won't play significant downs. If you did that you'd have no one for the contributors to practice against. There is a balance, and Richt knows what he's doing.

this is great. We didn't have kids getting let go to open scholarships with the last staff.

Golden booted talented guys because they didn't fit his cookie cutter system or they were too vocal. This is different.

Well that probably should do it for the Golden specials or am i wrong? But whats crazy is you can fill a whole signing classs for a d2 or d1aa school recruiting class with Golden specials booted off the team.

I'm all for showing the door to kids who have no chance here. Lou Saban really started this thing by doing just that - getting rid of the guys who have no business being here. Don't kid yourselves, Lou Saban did Howard Schnellenberger a great service by solid recruiting and clearing out the dead wood.

I wish these guys well wherever they land, but they never should have been recruited.

Great point, probably messed up this young man's football career for good.

I think it's a **** move by Golden - one that obviously reeked of desperation. Just more evidence of what a colossal douche Golden is.

But let's be honest about one thing - this kid's "football career" won't last beyond college. So, this move didn't ruin it. He just got screwed by a desperate loser...only he's not used to it like Golden's wife is.
