We need a change. Everybody knows that. Golden knows it, AD knows it, its not a secret. The program, the alumni, the fans, local media, and most importantly, the team have lost confidence in him and his bull**** process.

He's out of here. I'd bet my bigger nut on it. James has to support him publicly right now, to critique or pressure him publicly would lower his value. Best case scenario is that Al and his agent can swing another gig somehow. We either avoid the buyout, or better yet, get a little of our own. I know this is valuable recruiting time, but with a who gives a **** bowl game and the dead period, its worthwhile to see how this plays out. Point is, just because he says he supports Golden doesn't mean that he actually does. I think the guy in charge of the entire athletic department is aware of the problems and how many alumni and boosters are ****ed. James didn't hire Golden and I don't know why everybody is so sure this dude wants to go down with the ship. Be patient.

Let this thing play out. If a month goes by with Golden in charge and we spend every day calling for James head on a stick, then Golden magically lands somewhere else with no buyout to pay, then its a huge win for us and a job well done by James. If we make it more than a few days into January, or doomsday scenario, next season with Golden as our coach, I'll grab my pitchfork but till then, theres nothing to do but wait and pray. I think they are just waiting it out to see if the situation resolves itself, and then will still have a quality group of candidates in a few weeks if it comes down to it. Have faith. Canes can't stay down forever. They just ******* cant.

James is a *****. You can't wait around and hope someone else does your job for you (another school hiring him away). Time is precious and the more time a new coach has to recruit, the better we will be for it. It must be done and done now.
 
If James is doing what you are saying, then he actually is as stupid as I think. No smart athletic director would do what you are saying.
 
Anyone thinking that Golden is somehow going to land another credible gig right now is dreaming. And LMAO at another program buying out his contract. The best case scenario here is the pressure gets so bad that he and the school agree to some sort of negotiated buyout allowing him to save face and "step down" and try to rebuild his credibility here. He can say his wife has had health issues this year, and he just hasn't had the time and ability to give the job his all and that things have just not been a good fit, blah blah.

But he's not getting another reputable gig, nor is anyone going to come paying UM to by him out. If James is that stupid, he literally should hang himself in the men's room at the Hecht.

James is a puppet. At best he could recommend to the BOT that Golden should be fired but he is not making that decision in a vacuum. His job is basically to sell tickets.
 
Folden knows this is his last gig and he is going to wring UM's teat for all the milk he can.
 
Here is what we have heard on Blake from CIS. He knows Al isn't the guy and apparently wants him gone. The decision as it does in many cases with Head Coaches does not solely come from the AD. While he is coming across as spineless he might just be more business saavy than we expect. Listened to him about a month ago and took away that Blake is your typically executive to the T. If the board demands position coach changes which it sounds like they are, it positions the school to fire Al and saving face while doing so. Blake knows that it won't be significantly better next year and he knows that Al knows that and at the end of the day a termination next year for performance is suicide for Al. Where if Al is let go for not agreeing to make changes it makes both sides not look as bad. Al is playing the "you won't buy me out" card hard and not making the changes could force the school to call Al's bluff.
 
I honestly think they are waiting for the bowl game. I want Golden gone but James can't come out in the public and publicly hate on Golden. That would not help in hiring a new coach in the event of his hiring.

Fake Jimmy is a powerless twit whose sole purpose is to schmooze and raise money. He has as much to do with hiring and firing corches as Newman.
 
There are moves being made. Any time there's this much heat - fans, BOT members, and press - there are moves being made - slowly and carefully.

I know a couple guys who are major organization founders, and I ask "why don't you just (fill in the blank) and quit wasting time with this ***hole? And always, it's the same, calm reply - we're doing it, but we're doing it carefully so as to not unduly penalize ourselves."

I do at times admire their ability to smile, but then, they stick the guy in the gut, without him seeing it coming from THAT direction, and then I know why they can smile and pretend. Payback is a real *******.

Truth.

Hold a press conference with current and former players and coaches including Golden. Let espn know so they cover.
Say how great we were and how bad we are now. Fire his *** live.
He wants to play poker? Fck that. Nuke his career.
