Am I the only one who doesn't understand why you won't use a bigger back(Gray) in the redzone rather then Yearby?

They clearly don't trust Gray, which a **** shame. I really like him.

Well to be fair he fumbled last and while he didn't technically fumble against bcc he did lose the ball a couple times. Maybe he does in practice too.

Overreaction to risk. It's our overall leadership tendency. If you don't trust him getting consistent carries yet, put him out in the slot the way Georgia does to Sony Michel. I'd like to see 2 of the 3 RBs on the field at the same time more often.

Let's be fair here though He is 3rd string and he has problems holding onto the ball. I'm not sure a coach alive puts a cold 3rd string rb with fumbling problems into the game in crucial short yardage plays. I would like to see him get more burn but again penalties, a horrible overthrow by Kaaya on the run cost the team 20-25 pts. Moving the ball wasn't reallya problem where we were in need of something extra.

What difference does it make?

If you line-up in the shotgun with 4 wide then you get less defenders in the box to stop the run.
If you line-up under center with "heavy" personnel then you get a stacked box.

Ultimately it comes do to winning at the point of attack.

I thought he called a great game today, at least in the first half.

Do you think Coley gets conservative by himself or is it something that comes from Al? I'm not a fan of Coley, but the first 2-3 drives of each half seem to be near flawless and almost always end with scores. I feel like he would love to keep momentum going and put teams away, but Al tells him to slow it down and that's where it gets stagnant.

It's also possible that I just hate Golden so much and want him to be at fault for everything no matter what, but would still love to hear your personal opinion on the situation.

Right. I'm not advocating for him to be thrown into short yardage situations cold. I'm hoping they find more ways for him to prove his reliability. He has skills that we need against more talented teams.

And I don't see the problem with Yearby in short yardage. He runs hard and his elite cutting ability makes it difficult for defenders to square him up so he tends to get extra yardage. The dl push late, I dont think being bigger would have necessarily helped. I think that's old school mentality. Must run 3te operation butt crack and put big back in.

Some big RB's don't run big.
Some smaller RB's are thumpers.

Can't really stereotype runners based off their size. Yearby is a tough runner.

One of the better games I've seen him call.. and I think he's a worst coordinator than Doritos. Thought we had good rhythm most the night. Perhaps he learned bubble screens actually work when you don't call them every 3 plays.

Very hard for me to crush him on being out of bullets in the second half when two TDs were called back on holding. Getting Walton singled up on the backer was perfect in that situation. Walton has a burst that is underrated.

I thought this was one of Coley's better games from a play calling standpoint. The Rosier play was mind boggling. We also NEED to stop with the fade routes. Everyone we've tried this year has been a disaster. Our slants are killing them but let's run a ridiculous fade. Stoppppppp

This is another game where he ran out of bullets, but I really liked some of the in running patterns underneath vertical routes. F'in finally!

I'd love to have this discussion sometime because I'm just baffled at the way our games progress. Something is a miss

Did you people watch the same game I did or was your body roasting so much that you didn't see UM CONSTANTLY snapping the ball with 10-12 seconds left on the clock near the end of the 3rd and the fourth quarters. We all saw that on TV and the announcers pointed that out several times. This game would have NEVER COME DOWN to the last seconds if Coley and for that matter Brad had any football acumen. Wow, it was a very glaring mistake on this coaching staff!

Bingo! Sitting in the west endzone, I had direct line of sight to the play clock and was stating the same thing to my buddies. And I'd say it was closer to 16 seconds they left on the play clock each time. Truly this was a game up 33-10 in the 4th qtr when you milk the clock!

He probably fumbles in practice plenty. Multiple practice report videos show him laying the ball on the ground.

You need to remember that this is probably only Coley's second full season of play-calling. Jimbo called his own plays. And Coley is definitely getting better and better. I doubt you'll see 1) Rozier in like he was and/or 2) passing with a big lead in the third when we needed to be burning the clock, again. And the guy can flat-out recruit.

He's mind bottling at times. Starts out with a couple of flawless drives. But then gets cute and puts Rosier in, mismanaged the clock in the second half, and just seems to go away from stuff that is working. He's up and down.
