Not surprising. Coley left initially to call plays, but when you're a WR coach, **** right you go back to being paid like an OC even though you're still on the level of a WR coach.

oc while Jimbo calls plays. Listen, coley isnt a bad guy, he pushed to get kids offers i knew. he was working for an a-hole.

Probably same job he had with Jimbo at FSU. Scout opposing defense and script plays but Jimbo will handle in-game adjustments.

Agree - I liked Coley. I thought he was progressive/creative as a playcaller but definitely had more room to go. He was cutting his teeth as an OC here. He can recruit, he's not willing to push the envelope with playcalling, etc.

Why does Coley have a reputation around here as being a great recruiter? He deserves gets credit for Kaaya (who we were all excited about at the time), but who did he pull away from FSU, Bama, OSU, etc? I seem to recall losing a lot of head to head recruiting battles when he was here. In fact it got to a point where we were not even going after the big fish. I realized Golden sucked and will probably be thrown around as the convenient excuse for Coley but I am legitimately trying to understand why Coley has the "great recruiter" reputation.

off the top of my head, he flipped yearby. Yeah, he didn't win a lot of battles in those days, but then again, who did? We were the laughing stock of the state where it was easy recruiting against us.

He stole Stacy Coley from FSU.... but that's about it.
