Jamel cook...

I've not only watched his tape but I've attended a number of games he's played in. He lacks the physicality of a top notch safety not even in the same ballpark as Jaquan Johnson in that dept. He was getting abused in many games and was actually subbed in for a few times. His positives are his wingspan and ability to knock down balls with his height. He has a ton of trouble changing direction and his coverage skills need a ton of work. He is still growing in the height dept and could very well end up being like a rush end or 3rd down coverage line backer. Overall nice prospect but has a ton of work to do and may need to find a new position in college

people watch a tape of a guys highlights and not game tape and they start penciling players in as starters. Everyone looks good on highlight tapes that's why they call them highlight tapes. You have to actually see a guy live and watch his weaknesses.

on a side note Cook's father was a **** of a basketball player in highschool and played with former Cane and Miami Heat forward Tim James. Cook could end up growing to 6'9 as he's still growing he is a project and his frame will ultimately determine where he will play at the next level.

BALL SKILLZ thats what he got, ill take a DB with ball skillz over a hitter any day. being a hitter is a mentality that would come as he gains more weight being able to cover the whole field is a skill that everyone dose not have.

His most work is needed in his angles he has all the tools just needs a coach who can slow everything down for him.

I think most people agree that he isn't the most physical guy on the field and probably will never be with that frame. (or he will always be hurt) But neither was Gerrod Holliman. Give me a kid that can potentially grab 6-7 ints per year any day of the week. And that's his game. We can find someone else to knock heads off.

But I agree that he wont be an instant impact guy. In fact, as the year goes on, wouldn't be surprised if he just falls in our lap because FSU starts slow playing him.

I saw hi during the 7 on 7 at UM wasn't overly impressed ... reminds me of our 6'4 corner from last year..

If Im not mistaken that the same safety I seen Trayone Gray blow by and outrace to the endzone a few years back.

Cook has had a good camp season, much like Victor both have looked good without the pads on, got to back it up on the field this year.

Per 247 he said Auburn, FSU, and Miami is tied for #1

Seems like FSU is backing off on him? anyone know why?

No way FSU is backin off him, they want to keep that Miami Central pipeline going.... but he wont end up in their class.... I say he is Ours come NSD

That's what I've been thinking since he committed to FSU and then Miami was still on him hard. I think Miami was slow on him then he committed to FSU to reserve a spot and force us to show more interest and it worked.

But tbh I don't like the sound of Auburn. TRob can pull off something like this if anyone can. I'm not going to rule them out he is too good of a recruiter. A good season though and he's coming to UM.
