2027 Jamar Thompson 4* DT from West Boca

#4 on the list of next to commit

Jamar Thompson

Now I know and just to see that I got coaches that’s going to be on my tail, I feel that’s the right fit for me

@DMoney goes def com 4 when asked about this guy.

I'd take him for sure, but then someone on this site (can't remember who) said staff wasn't happy he has bad weight right around the time that Alexander said our interest with him was picking up. No idea.

Pretty interesting comments and projection by canesport/on3 given the most recent Update from CiS
DMoney: And Jamar Thompson locally?

Sebastian Font: That one still feels pretty open. He’s local, but his recruitment feels national right now. He looks like exactly the type of defensive tackle body you want to keep home, but I didn’t come away from that conversation feeling like it was close to done.

What did stand out was him talking about Javian Mallory and watching his development. Seeing a local player grow in Miami’s system right in front of him could matter.

His top 4 are Michigan, Auburn, us and OSU. We know his HC is a OSU fan. Given how many guys we’re after on the dline, wouldn’t be that big of a deal if he goes elsewhere imo.

His body type doesn’t seem to fit what we like at DT; or what we have ended up getting.

All the prep DTs last cycle were 280 pounds or under. Donta Simpson the year before that likewise clocked in at 281. The previous takes that weigh more have tended to be taller so they can hold it better; like Josh Horton at 285/6’4.5 or Justin Scott at 6’4 310 (he’s been listed at 298 to 303 recently).

The only player we dropped last cycle was a humongous human in Anthony Kennedy.

I feel like if you’re arriving 300+, our staff wants you to be a five-star or be close to that. Like Scott and Brewster; or carry the weight really well like Parks.

We gotta feel good about where we are at with Brayden Parks, Montana Toilolo, and Ezekiel Ayangbile. We have Josh Johnson committed. We want Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui at DT; and he’s even more in our backyard than Thompson. We’ll be orca hunting Jalen Brewster until New Year’s Eve; or whenever he runs out of college eligibility.

I’m going to guess he ends up at OSU.

Big people move little people. This is a local trench bully Miami needs to close out his recruitment with a signature for the home team.

Go Canes

@Sebastian Font why did you feel like despite his locality and him explicitly stating we are the top school that his national interests are still ongoing rather than winding down?

I don’t disagree but just asking cuz the content’s of your convo w/ D$ versus the plain words within the article are unaligned imo

He mentioned he's still going to be taking plenty of visits over the next few weeks (GTech, Texas, Georgia) and won't be commiting until August

*didn't include it in my transcript cause it was more of an aside conversation*

I think this is one where if Miami ramps it up, he will be a Cane. Similar to what EJ was saying

Good interview…I think if there is any holdup at all or any chance of him ending up elsewhere it will be from one UM's side.

The "Top One" made that pretty clear.

I think we are making all 3 of the local DT options earn there spot and I think one will be in this class…If I had to call it, it's still Thompson jmo.
