Jake Heaps?

As long as he's promised nothing I'm ok with it.

I still think Kaaya is that dude. But maybe between Heaps, Olsen, and Williams, we can limp through a redshirt year for him. I think he's ready to go though.

I dont think anybody is giving up on him. I just think he needs seasoning. Some recruits come in ready to start early. (kayaa appears to possibility be that type) and most others need to sit and learn and develop a few years. (Olsen). This also falls on the shoulders of Al Golden's staff in not developing the young guys better. They need to do a much better job at that. This is why bringing in a guy ready to start is advantageous all around. Maybe Olsen or Kayaa gets there shot as the season moves along. Were fortunate to be loaded with playmakers on ofense so we dont need an allstar at qb just someone to make smart decisions and get the ball to the guys and let them do there thing.

Heaps = Williams to me. QB transfer from a bad team with bad stats who might provide some leadership/knowledge for the youngsters. Non-issue either way IMO.

heaps didn't exactly have talent like duke and coley around him at kansas. add in charlie pelvis **** and you aren't going to be at your best

I remember heaps being a stud his freshman year. No idea what happen. I think he was even a Hiesman talk and best qb ever at buy. He probably loves the pro style offense as well. I wouldn't have a problem. With him at all as a rs sophmore but just to come here 1 year? I don't like that.

charlie weiss happened

Heisman

2007 Tim Tebow Florida QB Sop
2008 Sam Bradford Oklahoma QB Sop
2010 Cam Newton Auburn QB Jr.
2011 Robert Griffin III Baylor QB Jr.
2012 Johnny Manziel Texas A&M QB Fr.
2013 Jameis Winston FSU QB Fr.

I think we have development issues at QB.The last two Heisman winners were redshirt freshmen.Cam was a juco transfer and one-and done. Our Qbs have issues with check downs and make throws into double coverage often.Fisch's last year with J12 proved that at least he could read defenses.SM couldn't and stared down receivers.Winston looked more sound than SM and he was a rs frosh which is rather disturbing to me.

Agree we do have developmental issues but most of those offenses are spread or fun n gun. Neither of which we run. It would be nearly impossible for a qb in our system to be even a heisman candidate unless we were playing for national title.

not to be that guy but we got it a little before porter

@CanesInSight: Jake Heaps is going to be a 'Cane. Expect an announcement shortly.

If Olsen, Kaaya or Williams aren't starting, we were going to be in huge trouble anyways.

This probably just shows you how little faith they have in Crow that they are willing to bring in Heaps to be the 3rd stringer.

Once again this isnt a move for depth. This is a move to compete to start. Guy with 1 season left in his ncaa career isnt transfering to hold a clipboard. Had other big schools trying to land him to start this year.
