Jake Heaps continues to impress Al Golden

Would love to see Heaps motivate the the team by riding his bicycle out to the opening coin flip wearing a white button down shirt and black tie.

Lol this would be the biggest corch move in Godlen's tenure here...Kaaya is clearly the better QB let the kid play.

I have Golden on a short leash been done with No D but who in their right mind think Kaaya is ready to deal with everything that's gonna be thrown at him after 2 months in college? Thats how you guys do. Build players up like the media, he goes to Blacksburg and Bud Foster sends some crazy *** blitz at him, he gets gun shy and you guys never get off his back until he has lost all his confidence. It's not unheard of that heaps might be a ok QB. Plus he is grown up. Its not just throwing the ball a QB has to do. They have to get the team in the right plays. Thats alot for true FR. Simmer down with the blowing of Kaaya. For realz. And btw Williams will be ready at some point this year. Its not just Kaaya and Heaps

Heaps will get the start for sure. No way Golden, or 99.9% of coaches in the country, starts a true freshman first game of the season, on the road, against a decent conference opponent. Only way that happens is if Kayaa beats Heaps so resoundingly there is no choice, and there's little chance that will happen. They'll give Heaps his shot and see what happens.

Yep. I don't get. We all have watched them and know what Qb knows what. Why would he start him over him ,does our coach not want to win?

These dudes are setting up Kaaya for the fall. None of them have seen a snap of practice yet. And Porter is fueling the fire with his obviously slanted "reports" on what's going on out there.

Yep. And overall, I really don't think Heaps has sounded that bad in practice. He sounds about what you would expect from a QB on day 3 of camp, especially a transfer with a new team. He's made some plays but been inconsistent. Its obviously been made very noticeable by the marked contrast with Kaaya's remarkable play. I mean the kid not only sounds like he's in beast mode for a true Frosh, but for ANY QB in day 3 of camp.

I think if AG can avoid it in any way at all, he will start Heaps. And honestly, unless its such a HUGE difference between the two, I think its the smart thing to do. The overwhelming majority of coaches will NOT throw a true Frosh into the fire like that right out of the gate. Even in a best case scenario they usually work them in after a few games and see how they handle a real game tempo.

There is no question that Kaaya sounds like something very special right now. And I hope to **** it continues and gets better and better. He may even end up the starter at some point this season, but unless there is NO other choice, I don't think AG is going to want to throw him into the fire right out of the gate. A young QB when everything starts going wrong on the road, can really implode. See even Dorsey when he had to come in at VT when KK went down. As pedestrian as Heaps may be, he's a 5th year Senior with a lot of starts, who has "been there and done that". If nothing else, he can serve as some guidance and mentor to help Kaaya along when the bullets really start to fly and the pressure is on.

If golden was fsu coach famous Jamesis would have been on the bench backing up a worse senior. If don't like psu/patetno/grow Miami football.

Point is, as is their thinking,"who gives the canes a better chance of winning"? It should be bottom line, all else is unnecessary. Whether the right choice is made remains to be seen. Al may not want to risk his future on a freshman QB, nor may he have the ********s

Pretty much.

Kaaya would have to be much better than Heaps to warrant starting.

It's actually in his best interest not to start as a true Freshman. Give him time to develop. All we need Heaps to do is get the ball in to the hands of Duke/Coley et al. He's not being asked to carry the team on his back.

What happens if Heaps get injured and can't go? Sounds like they're moving past Olsen. Can't say that I blame them.

Like Jimbo did Jameis's freshmans year?

Who you gonna play? The true freshman or the future first round pick EJ Manuel? Don't be an idiot. We're not fortunate enough in that we haven't had a QB half as good as EJ Manuel in the past 10 years here so we can't afford to let a kid who might have a higher ceiling sit for an average to below average QB who couldn't cut it at BYU or Kansas.

Kaaya is Golden's last excuse, as long as he never sees the field in 2014. "Wait till 2015!"

Having awful QB play in 2014 with Heaps and Williams is his only resort. "THAT is why Dorito gave up 500 yards a game, crappy QBs!" "Just wait till Kaaya in 2015!"
