After coming off one of the most winning seasons in programs history, Miami Hurricanes head basketball coach Jai Lucas has reportedly signed a five-year extension to stay in Coral Gables, according to ESPN.



In his first season, Lucas led the Hurricanes to an overall record of 26-9, which was good enough to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since the Final Four run in the 2022-23 season. The Hurricanes defeated the Missouri Tigers and fell short against the Purdue Boilermakers in the Round of 32.

After taking over a team that went 7–24 last year, Lucas had Miami just one win away from the winningest regular season in program history.

Prior to Miami, he made stops at Duke, Kentucky, and Texas during his coaching career as an assistant coach. Lucas now enters his second offseason as the head man at Miami, reloading the Hurricanes' roster by adding proven players such as Acaden Lewis, Somto Cyril, Brent Bland, DeSean Goode, L.J. Cason, Robert Miller, Egor Ryzhov, Caleb Gaskins, and Nick Dorn, while retaining guards Shelton Henderson and Dante Allen from last season.

Contract has been signed, which means more Jai Lucas.
