Jai Lucas Robbed of ACC Coach of the Year Honors

After the team we saw last year and we had not 1 guy on the roster...Duke is Duke...guys are coming just because when we had to build a team from the ashes...picked up a 5 star in the process and built a team with chess pieces from the transfer portal...NO STARS...all to lose 7 games in year 1? What are we arguing people? That's a **** of a job bruh considering the circumstances

The rumors in the Triangle that UNC will go after Jai this offseason....
Davis will be gone next week. They are negotiating an exit package.

Duke under Coach K was giving out that NIL before NIL was a thing — just like every other program that was serious about competing at a high level.

It’s not the lure of playing for Jon Scheyer that gets 5-star recruits. It’s that big money coupled with Duke’s brand and legacy of producing high-profile NBA players

It’s crazy cause Duke don’t be paying crazy like that but the Duke brand help the players get crazy NIL deals

Coach K is still around on campus...
 


For those who forget, this is where he started from on March 23rd 2025.
If you notice, he was working with all of the former players from the previous season then they all entered the portal so Coach Jai Lucas has to enter the portal to find 12 players to complete the roster.

I don't see or recall Miami being able to recruit Duke caliber players up until now

I think NBA teams potentially looking to hire him away is a concern.

He’s that rare college HC who would make a good NBA HC. He played in the league, can relate to the players, runs NBA style X’s/O’s, etc.

It’s a good problem to have… hopefully UM can keep him long term.
