He sits this year. Count on it.
I wish I could downvote youCis experts out in force pertaining to Phillips eligibility and when and if he is allowed to play. Cis posters love to play the supposition game. We will find out soon what the outcome of issues pertaining to Phillips will be. Decisions will be made by powers that be. Guessing game not necessary.

Nah I usually agree with you but think you misread him on this. If Phillips was majoring in music at UCLA and UCLA discontinued its music program is a much stronger argument than Phillips was majoring in business and then decided to major in music, something UCLA does not, and has never offered as a major.
If that is the case, Miami could pull a UNC and offer something unique like Swahili as a major and top recruits that want to transfer can just say I want to major in Swahili now and only Miami offers that so I get a waiver.
I'll try to make this clear. He is going to sit and heal next year to get ready for 2020. Theoretically he could apply for a waiver based on his music major argument, but Miami does not need or want him to rush into playing next year. Phillips is on board with the plan and excited to heal, get his body right, and come out swinging in 2020 without wasting a year (next year if he were granted hardship eligibility) for no reason.
Manny Navarro had a great interview with Phillips. Said he arrives in Miami in July and will sit out the season and blue shirt. He starts taking classes in the fall at Miami. He’s not worried about concussions at all anymore. Non issue basically, all about getting his wrist all the way healed from that accident he had on the moped in January 2018I'll try to make this clear. So it's a wrist issue that's sidelined him and not concussion problems?
He did have a concussion last year but from reading the article it seemed like he knew he came back too early and the wrist injury really affected his play, he said he’s not too worried at all about concussions and there aren’t any long term effects at all.So it's a wrist issue that's sidelined him and not concussion problems?
He will have 3 years left come 2020?I'll try to make this clear. He is going to sit and heal next year to get ready for 2020. Cmon dude your trolls are getting dry. Same old cranky tone every time. You need to add something to your game, or pretty soon no one will bother to read your porsts.Cis experts out in force pertaining to Phillips eligibility and when and if he is allowed to play. He will have 2. He will be a reshirt sophomore next year as he’s sitting, since he only played 4 games last season, he gets his redshirt. That leaves him 2 to play 2 unless he gets granted a 6th yearHe will have 3 years left come 2020?

I was responding to poster who asked how can a player redshirt if he has played in four games not why Phillips could be eligible now.Redshirting has nothing to do with his eligibility in terms of being able to play this year. The angle here and what makes his case different is the fact that he retired due to injury. I believe that the retirement legally severed his ties to the UCLA program in terms of playing sports. Now that he has received a second opinion that clears him to play Phillips is able to resume his career at the school of his choosing. This is what I believe the legal interpretation will be.
I'm sure one of the 47 other threads has that information. Incidentally, 47 is the number of years the kid has left.
