But then you’re basically saying that every 18 year old kid gets a pass, that character doesn’t matter, that culture doesn’t matter, and that the staff should not factor in whether they think a kid will flake on us in the future and cost us a counter. What happens when this kid faces adversity at Miami?
It’s a zero sum equation. If we take him, it means there is high-character kid out there we have to say no to.
So yes, you have to consider character, past behavior, and culture-fit when figuring out who you want in your locker room.
I didn't say that. He would have to prove himself. We haven't been good, but we're not some bumble**** program that will just take talent. Has he humbled himself, what's his attitude, state of mind, is he hungry, etc? Every situation is different. If you think he can help, reach out, and see where it goes from there.
Trust me on this, fans care far more about what happens on signing day than the recruits. Recruits realize the decisions are business decisions. Even when your boy picks your schools rival (FSU) or hated schools (ND, UF, OSU, etc) they're still your boy at the end of the day. They'll give each other ****, but that's about it.
