2027 Jackson Vaughn 5* DE from Oradell, NJ (Bergen Catholic HS)

Who else has said they’re considering reclassifying?

Sears, Asher, Aden Johnson, and that’s it right?

Maybe these reclassification guys are further down the line than I thought and the staff knows that.

In addition, the Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic standout said he is focused on three programs, and each have him high on their recruiting boards and are eyeing bringing Vaughn in for an official visit.

"I have some ideas (about official visits); Notre Dame, Auburn, Miami," the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Vaughn said. "That is where my head is at right now."

Vaughn is coming off his second spring visit to Notre Dame. It was a trip he wanted to make so his mom could see more of the school and spend time with coach Marcus Freeman.

He also visited Auburn earlier this month and has been to Miami multiple times. He visited the Hurricanes last spring, returned for a game in the fall and he was on campus earlier this spring. He has been in contact with the coaching staffs about a potential move.

"A lot of these schools, we kind of gave them a heads up, so they know a little bit that I was thinking about it," Vaughn said. "Obviously, schools are going to call me a lot more now since I'm a '27 but I think those are the big differences, and I think the conversations become more serious."

It means with the spring evaluation period active, it is within the rules for assistant coaches to meet with Vaughn at his school and his home.

He is also looking into possible official visits, either in May or June. He did not rule out making a decision prior to making multiple official visits.

Just an observation; seen CJ Carr talk about this and ETA’s mother (Houston DT) make a comment about prepping herself because Freeman was about to visit ETA at school; doesn’t matter what we say about that hairline, ⏸️

writing this in light of the fact he has already been crystal ball’d (or whatever the on3 equivalent is) to ND. Feels like a Miami-ND battle with ND having momentum however we have the longer term relationship. Vaughn’s importance is increased because of our longstanding pursuit of the DB twins who are his teammates (‘28).

Seems like a decision could happen within weeks.

ND has done well at Bergen Catholic recently: Quincy Porter on the roster, who went to OSU outta HS. Their top kids go anywhere (UGA, Texas, Ole Miss, Michigan, UNC, A&M, etc.).

In 2022, they had two commitments from that school; both would end up transferring: Steve Angeli & Jayden Bellamy.

Auburn, Miami and ND are not currently scheduled to receive OVs from the school’s other ‘27 p4 prospect: Bryan Porter WR —younger brother of Quincy Porter. Unclear what level of interest ND has in Bryan; no offer listed on 247

I am starting to get depressed with this recruiting and I don't know the last time that has happened. I would never have thought that was possible with Mario and our situation right now. I thought we ended all negative recruiting pitches, finally. I don't know who we lead for at DL or LB. None at this moment. At DB, I don't believe Hyppolite has the option to take this a whole lot further and still have a spot. Just a guess, maybe a month. If Sears reclassifies, I still like him for us. That's about all I got across the board at the moment. We are missing left and right, no denying it. I am questioning a Top 10 class at this very moment. I am already thinking of Mario addressing the situation after the season.

What exactly would Mario be addressing?

We have a lot of kids in our area who take an 8th-grade grey shirt year. There is a training school that has the kids go to school 1/2 day, then train the rest of the time. Capenelli's brother is the Head coach at Bergen. Isn't there someone who became friends with him while he was with the Dolphins?

Who else are winning missing on? Feel like we are positioned pretty well for OV season. Now I realize that the last 3 cycle that hasnt gone all that well for us but we are still in the game there. Obviously we are on a bit of a skid here and I hate it but not to the point of depression.
