Jackson Cantwell is not hurt

@E1k is good enough to make the midseason All-American team

Brother if you think i care more about mid season accolades more than what im seeing on the tape?…And i want samson to be great he just isn’t currently, that’s ok its season and playoffs left

And they don’t even have mali there and you using them as if they matter lmao. Since when has on3 all American lists mattered?

History has been re-written. I remember when Rivers came back from injury in '24 folks questioned subbing Bell in at LT and kicking Rivers inside for a couple of series each half, because Rivers basically never gave up sacks or pressures.

I had no idea people didn’t understand how good rivers was

Now post his run blocking grades....

There are two facets to OL play. Run blocking counts as much as pass blocking. Samson is an elite run blocker. His pass pro could use some help/improvement.
65.8. Why are you acting like rivers wasn’t a good run blocker too? Wtf is going on here? Why are yall acting as if rivers wasn’t one of if not our best olineman

And yes samson is elite in the run which is why my point is simply we would be able to put freshman francis at lt and move samson to guard, we can’t do that now because cantwell isn’t ready yet(which is fine)

I’m not asking for Cantwell to play. He looked terrible at guard im just saying this o line we’re trotting out there is filled with JAGS and outliers (not in a good way). 2023 and 2024 O line’s were legit. With NFL players. Could only wish that is what we were trotting out there.

Also rivers was an absolute stud for us whenever he was healthy I see this narrative about rivers too often
Samson is JAG? McCoy is equivalent to Rivers IMO. Rodriguez was a starter on the same line you are touting before he got injured and is at center so thats irrlelevant since Cantwell isn't nor ever will be a center. That means the only reasonable spot to break through would be at guard at which he is ill suited based on experience and body type.

3 non JAGS by my count and Id say Buchanan was looking good before the injury

Congdon's a legit diamond 5 star talent that the coaches unearthed. His wrestling background has given him the tools necessary to excel at guard. He's same age and size as Cantwell and may have a higher overall baseline Football IQ being that he came from football heavy suburban Ohio and not BFE Mizzou.

So 4 out of 5 are far from JAGs and the 5th dude would be the only question mark if he hadnt gotten injured. I'll give you RG being below standard with SJ there but if you watch the Tengwall breakdowns you'll see a line that is getting better and SJ doing a lot of good things too.

Against Wake we struggled with stunts and one on one match ups. We got flat out beat a lot but the one on one problems seem to be getting better.

Since Wake (Clemson/FSU) our run game has been dominant including what SJ has put on film. On the 4th down stuff Saturday Rodriguez tweaked his knee or something and collapsed (you could see him laying on the ground clutching his knee on the broadcast) so we got stuffed it was just bad luck not poor play.

In pass pro the Tackles struggled with a very specific T->E twist or stunt and the fix is simply for the tackles to recognize it better and be more aggressive getting hands on the penetrator (Edge) on those plays and make sure to pass them off to the guards in better position. Nearly all of the pressures and sacks came from those particular stunts to which FSU has undersized athletic tackles that pull it off rather well. I wonder how many more teams we will play that have tackles as well suited to this particular weakness as FSU's guys.

@flips my OL truther brother in arms. Anytime I see your name on a post, I know its to correct someone about the OL. Keep fighting the good fight lol.

McCoy is equivalent to rivers 🤣🤣🤣 holy **** this is fascinating to watch. holy **** this is fascinating to watch. You all don’t know a **** thing you are looking at out there . The rivers disrespect is flat out crazy town

Rivers and Francis are the best 2 best o linemen we’ve seen in Mario and mirabels tenure.

Just mentioned this in a previous post. I was expecting 2 of SJ, Buchanan, and RR to be replaced. My OL projection was Samson & Cantwell at T, Ben and McCoy at G, RR at C.

Clearly something isn't clicking with Cantwell. Could be a number of things. I think he's not real nimble and agile, hence he sucks at guard.

4/5 of your projection was on course, then Max got hurt. I think I'm more disappointed no one else has stepped up (ahem Merriweather) to take SJ's spot.

they moved rivers inside as soon as they could
When was the last game we gave up as many pressures as we did against the mediocre Noles on Saturday? The game we let bell get abused against v tech on a Friday night in 2024

Bell turned out to be a great player for us this us no knock on him he got baptized at times that year as would be expected

Because you (and the tweeter) omitted the other half of Rivers' blocking in order to try to prop up Rivers as more than he was by saying he allowed only one sack. Even more though, it was to point out that Samson is an elite run blocker.
How about you tell me wtf is going on here? Why are you adding so much hyperbole? Why is it all binary in nature? Why is there no nuance?

Rivers was a fine player here. He may have been the best that one year, but that was a function of experience....ya know, like Samson has now; like McCoy has now. You want a dose of honesty? Here it comes - gun to my head right now, I don't know who was the better T, Rivers in 2024 or Samson now. I need to watch the tape and do a deep dive analysis to compare their grades. I'm not going to do that. It might not be much, but I do have a life and spending hours upon hours watching film in order to determne which was better is dumb, even for me. The larger point is that the OL typically requires a lot of experience to go from serviceable to good to great. Cantwell is stuck behind two guys with a lot of experience.

And now I don't even remember wtf we were talking about. Did you want to fvck my mother too like the other dude?

Im not slandering Rivers as much as pumping up McCoy. Rivers benefited from playing a ton of reps in 2024 at his natural position of guard and also played plenty of reps outside against lesser comp early in the season. I don't think a full yr at LT keeps his stat sheet as clean. Either way Im not arguing if Rivers or McCoy is better just that they are failry close.

I didn’t ommit anything..why would i need to prop rivers up? Anyone who watched him should know he was really good thats why im confused here

And no it was not just a function of experience wtf, this is the crazy **** im talking about. Rivers at tackle in 2023 was all acc, and would of been again in 2024 at lt or guard had he not been injured. Samson is not currently at that level, i think as a guard he could be better than rivers but not as a tackle.

If cantwell was ready like francis was i think we would start him at lt and move samson to guard. Cantwell has a different development path than francis, nothing wrong with that

Idk why you’re jumping in this convo if you don’t know what it’s about lmao
