4-5 year timeline is longer than most of our last 5 coaches had jobs. That is unreasonable.
Did any of us think the portal would turn into what it is currently?...the portal started in Mandy Diaz last year? Correct me if I'm wrong!...we were devoid of elite talent, coaching, culture, finances, horrible conference! What was your time frame @cway313

Lmao 4-5 years? Are you out of your mind????

Even pre-portal, good coaches delivered results faster than that. And in the portal era, 4-5 years is absurd.

The program has progressed but continues to underachieve, and the recruiting hasn't quite been elite. We'll see what happens this year.
Yes! Apparently, I'm out of my mind! cuz I knew it wouldn't be a quick fix. And so did admin with the 10 year contract!!

The 10 year contract had nothing to do with expecations of on field results. It was part of the entire package Mario required to leave Oregon.

And LMAO at the admin at the University of Miami ever having a ******* clue about what it takes or how long to build a football program. I mean, did you actually think before you wrote that?

Lastly, you believing it would take 4-5 years to build us into an ACC Champion or a playoff team is such a low standard and embarrassing.

Explain to me how SMU, in it's first year in the ACC, made it to the ACCG and the playoffs with a quarter of the talent UM has and a 2nd year HC?

Buddy the Bot/Prez/AD wouldn’t be making this type of investment in football for Manny Diaz..The investment they are making to the infrastructure is because Mario told them that is what it’s gonna take to get him here, otherwise he’d probably still be at Oregon.
Great. So now that they know they need to make the investment, they can hire an actual good coach now, right?

I'm being facetious. But my point is that convincing the administration to spend money is not enough to be a good coach.

Nobody said that makes him a good coach but you questioned how much of that investment was a byproduct of Mario choosing to coach here and I responded to that specifically.

Well, because it's a new administration! Yes, I did think because we got fresh blood in the decision making process....or did you forget that Donna, Julio, the ad I forget his name, Diaz Are gone were cane fans we can talk football I choose to be patient!

Yall can keep talking about trends. The only trend that matters is being disappointed every year in November. Last year was the worst of all 3, but I'm sure that 10 meant a lot.
Rio is what Rio is.

He’s gonna win you 9 or so yearly. Can he ever get us a natty? Not sure

But I don’t think we’ll ever see Miami losing 5-6 games in a season (which has happened numerous times) again.

The floor is raised, gotta find out the ceiling.

I can only imagine what this board would've looked like had we hired Rhet Lashlee as HC after Manny

It is the same exact letdown. Whenever national attention grows and "IS MIAMI BACK" bs starts popping up, you can guarantee an epic fail is coming soon after. Worst of all, it was preventable. We can pretend the defense was destined for peril, but with 0 roster limitations and a lack of talent acquisition(Marios doing) it was predictable in the spring, summer and fall.
I still disagree. There was no question at all about the weak link there.

I understand and agree that all that matters is the result. SMU made it to the ACCCG, we did not. But I think we were just as good, and likely better, than SMU last year. And really, all of that is moot, it's last year and it's one year. Do I think 5 years is ridiculous to expect Miami to build a solid program and have tangible results? Of course. But I like what's being built here in that it's built to last.

Much like TCU a couple years ago. Would you have hired Sonny Dykes? OK coach, but he's not moving the needle. They were a flash in the pan for one season, and that whole off-season I told people to just take a breath and see what happens the following year. They went 5-7 and 8-4 the last 2 years. Right back to where they belong.

So **** yeah, it's embarrassing that SMU went to the ACCCG last year and we didn't. I'm sick and tired of not winning this diarrhea bucket league. But this program is trending positively. 5 wins, 7 wins, 10 wins. Nobody can deny that. Let's see how this year goes. And the next. I think the program, overall, in totality, is in infinitely better shape than it was when Mario got here. And a lot of that is just due to the influx of support, no doubt. But we literally don't have it if Mario isn't here, so that's part of his deal.

Just win this league this year. Please. For the love of ******* god.

I think we have the talent to do it. Pray to Baby Jesus that Carson Beck's elbow is 100% good very soon, and we'll be fine.

Yay! I remember when that meant fly the banner.

Wrong. Manny wasn't a good coach here. Comparing coaches to other bad coaches is a recipe for mediocrity. I bought in year 1 and has doubts year 2. We are still devoid of elite talent. We have decent starters at some spots.

The weak link was created, signed, sealed and stamped by the HNIC. That is the root of the collapse. We don't have to act like it was inevitable no matter what.
I'm not defending Mario.

That has nothing to do with anything. But as of this moment, Lashlee with just 1 year in the ACC and 2 years as a HC, is far more accomplished than Mario at Miami. He didn't need any of the excuses that our fans give Mario. He inherited a 7 win team, went 11-3 year 1 and followed that up with another 11-3 record in his first year in the ACC, with an ACCCG and playoff appearance.

I mean, by all measures he has had far superior results as a HC compared his first 2 years to Mario's first 2 years as a HC in P5. It's very early, but Lashlee looks like a rising star.
