J. Jackson

Man bursitis in the elbow is extremely painful. Can’t imagine having to play football with that condition. Any word how he got it? Hopefully we can get up on these next few games, maybe not playing so much on it will help it somewhat heal better than constant pounding on it. This really makes us weaker at DE with DJax hurt as well. Patchan is going to have to step it up along with Joyner for us to close the ability gap.

He has bad elbow bursitis. And it wont get better unless he just takes the season off. He's playing through a lot of pain and its obvious he's not the same.

People blaming the DL coach just baffle me. Garvin and Willis are killing it, yet somehow Simpson is ruining Jackson? Makes no sense

Gotta blame someone lol

All i know he is better not be thinking about leaving early...

Oh you can forget about that. He is outta here, you can bet that lol. That’s what these kids do here at UM. He probably already has his agent.

Last year everyone did work. Trent, Chad, rj, norton, etc.

This year d Jax & j Jax have taken a step back. Willis didn’t play last year, so who knows. Garvin has been solid, but he was last year too. Who has taken a clear step forward?

Kul is the best in the business. Saban poached him. Let’s not act like it’s not a loss.

How has d Jax taken a step back when he got hurt in game 1 and missed game 2?

Willis has 7 tackles for loss in 3 games.
Garvin has 6 tackles for loss in 3 games
Clearly outproducing whoever was at the position last year not to mention how much better the run defense is

And Djack has barely even played so how did he take a step back? Didn’t play in ssu game, played a few drives in the Toledo/LSU games

1. Joe Jackson is clearly being hampered by his elbow injury and the added weight is compounding the problem.

2. Does anyone have an idea when thay brace is supposed to come off?

3. D. Jackson hasn't played as much as I would have imagined. Is this because of the lingering effects of last years injury or did he get banged up recently?

4. Scott Patchan seems to be playing well but I will defer to the resident film junkies here to confirm that.

5. With conference play right around the corner it would be nice to have a healthy foursome of Garvin, J. Jack, D. Jack and Patchan at DE. We are going to need them all. I would also like to see what if anything Patrick Joyner can give us this year.

6. This staff is very secretive about injuries. Ammon Richards could have had his leg amputated and replaced with a prosthetic and we wouldn't hear about it until the NFL combine after a mandatory physical.

I'm happy he's being a soldier and playing because his elbow is really ****ked up bruh. Can you imagine if he shuts it down? The next de is terry McCray once d-jack gets tired because patchan backs up garvin.

D Jax clearly looks slower and less productive. I don’t need 6 weeks of film to tell that.

Willis and Garvin I basically agreed with you on. Those 2 and Nesta are our dudes.

It’s not a knock on Simpson...yet. I just don’t get why people act like Kul wasn’t a loss. Sure, lazy/bad recruiter. But best DL coach in the country. That’s why Bama wanted him.

He had a injury to his arm. You need you arms as a DE to shed blocks. I wouldn't judge dude to harshly. I remember Richt saying if he thought it hinder him he wouldn't play him. But its hard to be as effective and violent as u want to when you are injured. Anybody who played any sport knows how injuries affect you mentally first and then physically

Multiple things are allowed to be true at the same time. Those things are:

1. He's clearly hurt
2. He's been a big disappointment through 3 games

Do those things have something to do with one another? Possibly. Probably. But the bottom line is, he has been a disappointment. So if it's only because of injury, we've lost Rousseau and have 70% of Joe Jackson. D-Jax has already been hurt....is he ever truly 100% for the rest of the year? This is not a great recipe at DE for the next 9+ games. REALLY can't afford any issues with Garvin or Patchan for the rest of the year.
You cant be hella disappointment if we clearly know the guy is injured.

I think Joyner is next in there because he mover back to DE.

He has the slowest get off out of all the dlinemen. Just look, he is usually the last one to come out of his stance. He is another one of out many overrated defensive players.

He's dinged up, for one. He does need to improve his repertoire of pass rushing moves. So, he’s a lock to declare. The NFL will suggest he stay, some agent or handler will whisper '2nd round, latest', and he'll be a 5th round pick.

Yes, there is some sarcasm. Just a little.
We know the “agent” it’s our favorite unibrow Ariz!

DE is a position that uses arms A LOT. You keep your leverage from the OT by reducing your body surface and separating with your arms. This allows the DE to set the edge and force plays to stay inside. One thing I noticed is that (whether its by design or mistake) our DE crash quite a bit. Which has a tendency to allow plays to get outside the tackle box (aka: broken QB runs). I would think Manny would be training them to set the edge and box in, but from plays I have watched they crash quite a bit leaving an open running lane. Crashing has its time and place, especially if you are playing an aggressive type D, but if its starts to be a tendency the O will make you pay. Either way having that cast on is going to affect Joe Jackson's play much more than other positions.

Kul's arguably the best D-line coach in the nation. But when you don't get players to campus, you don't have anything to coach. Tyreic Martin was a lazy pick up, and he's looking like an attrition candidate. I'll take a B coach and an B recruiter, over an A coach and an F recruiter.
