ITT We Follow Potential 2015 Coaching Candidate Week 4

Bud Foster has been at VT since 1987. I doubt that he's going anywhere. Moving from Blacksburg to Miami may be the definitive culture shock.

UM needs an energetic up and comer who has his sights set on the NFL ultimately.

There will probably be a ton of D1 HCs fired this year. Normally, that would be bad because we would have to compete for a top coach, but maybe that will force the BOT into hiring Butch.

Bull Sh*t. We need a proven guy.....not a little engine that could. Because that same little engine COULD NOT.....like Folden.

Hire Butch and win immediately. Butch will hand deliver our next "younger" Head Coach when he becomes the AD!

I'd rather a salty dog than a pup for this job, we don't need someone to re-invent the wheel, we need someone that sees how simple it is to recruit and win here and who will be a CEO.

You probably think you just described Butch Davis ... And you did.

But you also described Greg Schiano ...

Schiano would not be my first choice...but he's be a MAJOR upgrade over Gluten. At least he encourages the savagery we've been missing and can recruit. Butch on the other hand is beyond a perfect fit and would kill himself and his staff to get it humming in 1 to 2 years tops.

Jeremy Pruitt? Former bama db coach, fsu defensive coordination in 2013 and now uga Defensive coordinator?

He's not going anywhere that doesn't have an indoor practice facility.

Take a listen to his press conference from when he went to UGA.

That guy has zero interest in coming to Miami, IMO. I think he'll wait out an SEC gig.

Have you seen UGA's practice facility? I'd rather not have one than have theirs. You can't even doing anything with it.

They just spent $30 million to have one built.

A new one? Not the one they had that is literally 20 yards long? I toured UGA a few years ago and that one was embarassing

Justin Fuente - His Memphis Tigers defeated Missouri State 63-7. Next opponent is Kansas

Mark Stoops - His Wildcats defeated Louisiana Lafayete 40-33. Next two opponents will be South Carolina and Florida, it will be a real test for him.

Bob Stitt - After an impressive first game win against NDSU his Grizzlies lost to Cal Poly 20-19. Their next opponent is Liberty.

Tom Herman - His Houston Cougars defeated Tennessee Tech 52-24. Next opponent is Louisville.

Chad Morris - His Mustangs lost to Baylor 56-21. Next opponent is North Texas. I thought they looked good initially but just couldn't keep up with Baylor as the game went on.

Beau Baldwin - His Eastern Washington Eagles lost to Oregon 61-42. Next opponent is UNI. He's been a head coach since 2007 his overall record is 77-28. He's been coach of the year twice I believe and defeated Delaware for DI-AA championship. Has a pretty good resume

Bad list.

Bunch of nobodies and coordinators

Agreed. No body of work as head coach, no real consistency to measure.

We've had three frikkin' unproven coaches time after time after time - UNPROVEN head coaches.

Been there, done that THREE times!

Another name I'm starting to like is Bud Foster. I would like to steal him while VT is sleepwalking with Beamer. We would have an elite defense and if he could just get an OC we would be great. IMO they probably beat OSU if their QB never got hurt, or they had a backup that was decent. VT defense kept them in that game and he always has a great game plan and really good adjustments.

Kill yourself

You are an idiot if you wouldn't take Bud Foster. I don't know the likelihood of him even coming here but he's a **** of a game day coach, recruits well (especially DT and DL in general), and he's been a staple of a winning program for what? 25 years at VT? I know they came to the Big east in the early 90s could be before then

Edit: 1987 is when he came to VT just saw the post above. Pretty sure they have been a winning program as long as I can remember which would be late 90s on. The talent he could recruit for his defense at Miami would be a lot better fit than where they recruit now

Well then, I'm an idiot.

Bud Foster has been mentioned in head coaching searches for years and years. He either has no interest in being a head coach or ONLY has interest in taking over for Beamer when the time comes. Either way, I doubt arguably his biggest rival has a great chance to sway him, not to mention, while he is a great coordinator....I'm not so sure it isn't safe to say his best years are behind him.

FYI

Texas hired a guy from the Louisville=An urban meyer guy
Florida hired a guy from Colorado State=a nick saban guy
Auburn hired a guy from Iowa State, then one from Arkansas State=Malzhan also coached at Auburn before Ark St (Jimmy Johnson was from Ark St lol)
Tennesee hired a guy from the University of Cincinnati=Replaced Brian Kelly, mid-major guy similar to golden.
UCLA hired an out of work NFL coach

Just keep those facts in perspective when considering what kind of coaching replacement Miami will be able to hire.

the facts are not perfectly explained.

They didn't have an indoor facility. The one under construction is the first.

UGA, like everyone trying to compete at the highest level, has invested in upgrading their facilities.

Uh, you realize that's what UM will be hiring when Golden gets ****canned right?

Shoot for the stars and you might hit the moon.

Funny that the same beta males who slurp Golden are the ones who aim low for the next coaching hire.

The lowered expectations for this program are a ******* disease, just like the people who carry that mentality. If the fans don't hold the admin's feet to the fire and demand excellence, who will??

FYI - Butch mother****ing Davis. That's what a real list looks like, fool

Oh and by the way, your list is garbage full of nobodies. Aim higher and expect excellence

LOL

Kiffin is now "a Saban guy" AND "a Pete Carroll guy". Does that matter to you? Does that mean he's an automatic "can't miss hire" because of the staff he was on?

Herman is now "an Urban Meyer guy" ... So, he's good, too?

And what difference does it make that Butch Jones replaced Brian Kelly at UC? ****, UC grabbed both of them from Central Michigan.

Or, were you implying that Notre Dame hired a guy from UC in mentioning Kelly?

... Which actually furthers the point that you don't need an established name or a re-tread to make the right hire.

I wouldnt mind bud foster either but he probably is waiting for beamer to kick the can

I don't think he is a sure thing for success. Also, is that what we need a first time HC at 56 years old.

To be truthful though, nobody is a sure thing.

And the second part, which you didn't acknowledge.
Because i have no opinion on that. I just think he would be a great addition to any staff. ****, maybe you are right about the age thing. I still think he would at least do numbers here as our dc

That's why the U is stuck. They get tired of it. But it makes too much sense so they wallow in mediocrity. BBB. Simple
