On Joe Rose's show this AM, It was refreshing to hear our new Coach ,MR, take the responsibility, along with his coaches, for any miscues from the FAU game. As he said several times, these are things we need to do a better job coaching at. This is how you bring a team together!!

As I recall Al Gorlden always blamed the Team anytime anything went wrong on the field. What a difference our new staff makes!

yes Richt is a better coach..

but Saturday he struggled too

Thought it was funny, talking about the illegal procedure penalties, how it was a coaching issue that they didn't communicate effectively not to start running toward the line of scrimmage until the ball was snapped, sarcasm intended. He stands up for them when needed, like the WR's downfield blocking and getting a holding call, but calls out the stupid ones as well.

al said it in every intervw but al never meant it.
just something he knew he should say.
how's that for subtext?

The main point I was trying to make is that MR's overall approach to his Team is what "Team Building 101" is all about. Over the past 10 years the man has learnt a lot about Team building/coaching and what works, what doesn't work and what he needs to do to improve his Team. I've always been a Butch Davis supporter, but I'm also objective enough to recognize what other coaches do well(MR) and not so well(AG).

None of us are perfect and there will be times that MR's Team will struggle however how he handles it will determine how successful he and our Team will be. Yes MR will struggle at times, like we all do, and yes MR will lose some games, just like we all do.

He has to make Kaaya get a more comfortable doing his drops! I saw that he referred to that in a couple of articles, but I'm glad he recognize the problem. His play calling has been very bland, but I'll withhold judgment until after the season. He may be purposely only showing so many formations and plays.

Not sure if this was a problem before, but Kaaya was staring down his Wr's all game..I hope Richt can fix that cause that's going to be a serious problem in Oct!

What you're saying is we have an experienced, professional coach.

MR's play calling has been up to the level of our completion. He has said as much. The book will open up more beginning with GT, but will fully open up with FSU.

Brad Kaaya seems to be struggling some with the new offense, for it is opposite of what he has learnt. It is a run first and pass second offense. Brad seems to be the type of QB that has to get into a passing rhythm by throwing several passes in a row and our offense is not geared towards that. He also is not very accustomed to playing under center. Brad has to come up to speed quickly or we will have problems.

He still won by 28 points and quickly understood what adjustments to make while his QB struggled!

something we had taken for granted and not seen much of in the past with Coley. But this is correct. As soon as he saw Kaaya struggling with his intermediate and long passes, he settled him down calling for quick wr. screens. He did this repeatedly on one series for some good gains. It was clear FAU was going to take the big play away from us. He was able to get Kaaya back in rhythm in the 2nd half.

The problem wasn't that he didn't verbally take responsibility, it was that he was never able to fix anything he said they needed to fix. He was great with "it starts with me", but he never did anything differently so we kept getting the same result.

He, actually made adjustments? I haven't seen that in 10+ years.

Exactly

No excuses Joe, but that's two weeks in a row of having to play at 6pm. Everyone is talking about our schedule and how tough it's been with the start times.

That is also very refreshing to see. Gorlden very seldom did this, and if he did, it was way past half time when it was mostly way too late.
