EXACTLY!!!

For the love of God, its NOT ABOUT MONEY!!! It is if you are asking " what does it take to be in the CFB playoffs every year?". OK ,then I agree we need either an Urban or a Nick Saben to guarantee that success.

But man all im talking about is:
a. WIN our soft AF division every year;
b. Win an ACC title every now and then;
c. Every now and then BE IN THE CONVERSATION for playoffs.

I REFUSE refuse refuse to believe that a-c requires a Jimbo Fisher/Meyer/Saban. Refuse.

Look at that backwards a-- bumpkin Dabo Sweeney. DABO SWEENEY for Christ's sake!!!! Hes built a frickin monster by recruiting like a mad man in target rich Florida, SC, and Georgia. Is he anyones version of a technical genius????

I agree with the posters who essentially are wishing we had hired someone with "fire in the belly". I now even regret passing on Mullen.

Sadly, we are on this" Mark Richt ride" for as **** long as he wants it.

our only hope, realistically, is he tires of this and agrees to hand it over to Diaz in 2 years.

First of all Clemson built their program by miraculously recruiting elite players when they were still losing every big game they played. Wonder how they did that....hmmm...

Second of all, any fan who thinks handing the keys to a dead and destroyed program to a barely 40 year old coordinator who has never coached for a winner, never coordinated a top 10 unit in his life, and is a noted poor recruiter, should be banned from this site for sheer stupidity.

Until Miami stops pretending it is some elite academic institution (its not, it is Clemson/OSU territory), stops being afraid of its own shadow and image, and starts spending money like a big time program, we will be down.

They continue to force us into accepting some basketballschool that graduates players and “competes for the coastal”. Thats all the admin wants or cares about. Guys like Jagr on here will till u that exactly.

The problem is if Miami isnt winning big the whole thing falls apart, the environment becomes toxic and rinse and repeat.

Either commit to being the old Miami, or give up the program entirely.

so they spent money for an IPF, spent 4.5 mill or so on a HC -- they're spending money like big programs do right now. they'll NEVER have the same money that the big state schools do bc we dont have the booster support nor the big money fans that care enough to spend every dollar on the team.

It’s about money, and Miami doesn’t have enough.

I mean absolutely no slam on you - but this is akin to the mindset of UM's Admin, BOT, and Alumni - and it's just not true.

UM has the money to get a top crew in here - but they look at every coaching salary dollar as an expense - as it's been since Butch left.

A great coach and coaching crew - MORE than pay for themselves - whatever that amount. A great, top-dollar coaching crew will generate every dollar of their salaries - PLUS put more money into the University.

When a company hires a big-time salesman - he may cost them ungodly amounts of money - compared to other salesmen - BUT - a great salesman not only pays for his own salary out of increased revenues - he makes the company a buttload of money they'd otherwise - never see.

UM's finance department must suck taint - **** - the University of Alabama's finance department understands - and can maybe explain it to UM - how it actually works. Of course - everyone at UM walks around with their nose in the air when Alabama is mentioned.

At least Alabama understands that a great football program is a revenue generator for the university. And for a great football program - you gotta hire the best.

Instead of cheap out like UM has a long history of doing.

We dont pay enough, bc we dont want to.

They want a buttoned down image, good graduation rates, and no bad press.

If Miami wanted to we could have an elite staff and pay kids to play like every other school does.

So we basically have the money but won’t spend it smh. Well I guess when they decide to open the checkbooks we’ll be ok

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

Jimbo Fisher climbed the mountain(almost 2x actually).
Chip Kelly turned Oregon into playoff contender for several years
Chris Peterson turned UW into a playoff team.
Mark Dantonio got Michigan State to playoffs
Lincoln Riley took from the Mark Richt equivalent at Oklahoma and turned the Sooners into playoff team

All coaches not named Saban, Meyer, or Swinney who got their team to playoffs.

Winning a NC can take a bit of luck (like the NCAA and SEC colluding to keep sCam Newton eligible) but getting to playoffs should be within the capability of Mark Rick. Last year, we didn't even have to win our conference and we probably still make the playoffs if we beat Pitt. A 1 loss Miami still had a chance at the #4 slot even if we lost to Clemson. But Rick couldn't beat a sub .500 team despite it being a game that essentially would get us into the playoffs. Pitt game had monstrous stakes, and you would think that Miami would march into Pittsburgh focused and dismantle the team that stood between them and the playoffs. Instead, Rick spent the night before the game playing grabass and yukking it up with the players with a huge Thanksgiving feast. That was soft. Saban would have starved his dogs so they would be thirsty for blood the next day.

Uh - yeah.

UM has the money to get whatever they want. Or hadn't you noticed?

Since you had to shake your head - I'm assuming it's a neurological disorder in the cranial region - so I'll try to simplify: Pay for a top Head Coach and Top Coordinators - and ensure you win.

You win - you make the University a lot more money than you spent on coaches.

Then the football program becomes a revenue generator. To allow women's breaststroking, volleyball, and all the other parasitic sports at a university.
