It's like the old days - their hatred fuels us

Some of you are more sensitive than teenage girls. In not even really a fan of the guy, but I don't know how anyone could say Pate is a hater. Everytime I have seen the dude speak about Miami, he is glowing about Cristobal and the team

Just letting them talk **** & see what happens tomorrow night!

Everyone asking my plans for game too

Told them staying home & watching as usual

Not going to parties with all Buckeye fans
I’ll be at the game but if I was sticking around here, no doubt I’d make sure to not be around OSU fans. They can be insufferable

Any Michigan fan rooting for Ohio State is a certified cuck
I’ll chime in and say I’ve got two close buddies that are diehard Michigan fans and they’ve always been very supportive of us, like borderline root for us as their secondary team. Tied together via our hatred of OSU and I think the “fab five” opened their eyes to the hatred we’ve always dealt with as disrupters to the landscape of things

My wife moved down to Florida from Michigan in the early 2000s, so I married into a family of passionate Michigan fans.
They obviously don't care for Miami much (understatement), and I get that, but I promise you that none of them want osu to beat us tomorrow.

In fact, I got several congratulatory texts when we stomped ND this year.

Those dumb osu fans wanted Day fired when he won a natty but lost to Mich.

Those fanbases are odd.

Agreed- No way in he!! a Mich fan is cheering for osu vs Miami.

Ask MOMMA ,

If Michigan will ever honor the contract obligation of playing us at home?

My second biggest road win second to Cotton Bowl versus Texas was our WIN on the road at Michigan in front of 110,000 Carlos Haurte FG .

After that win they broke contract in coming to OB at the time.

Michigan has been frightened of us ever since , even our bad years Michigan was still scared wouldn’t come near FL let alone OB .

He talks nice and then picks against us. It's totally fine and I'm grateful for it. No need to be scared. Everything's gonna be fine.

Pate, Pollack, PFF, etc. Please, please, PLEASE do not switch horses and start predicting Cane win if/when we win on Wednesday. Our guys need that edge, so please don't start fluffing us no matter what the final score is.

I genuinely believe we're gonna win this game and if we do, I need SEC homers to stay on their side of the street and continue to doubt us against UGA/OLE Miss and then whoever it is that we play in the natty.

It really is like the old days and I LOVE It! When they pick against us, it doesn't make me mad or anything like that. In fact, I could see Pate's logical mind fight against him when it came to predicting this game. He knows (and has admitted) that we have both trenches in this game, but the natural biases and the siren call of Vegas was too strong for him.

I just hope we face UGA, because some of these guys might start picking us if somehow, Ole Miss wins.

Fuel us with your Hatred all the way to the natty!!
I feel what you're saying, but man, I've been married a long time and I could use a fluffing. Respectfully asking you not include me in your bolded wishes above.

PS. I'm sure I needed to hit the pause button somewhere in there. The long time married guys know what I'm talking about. "I do" means "I don't anymore"...at least not THAT!

I was at that game. It was amazing. I was in high school and dad wanted to "beat the crowd" so we left before the amazing happened and I saw the end on a tv screen at some Chili's or something like that in Ann Arbor. That moment was when I knew U of Michigan would not be receiving an application from me but Miami would.

To @klineski96 's point, I sympathize. I haven't lived in Michigan for a long time (never lived in Cincinnati BTW) and the only time I really hear from people from high school is when The U is doing well...or doing awful. And the loudest s.hit talkers are the ones who couldn't spell Ann Arbor, let alone ever could be accepted to that arrogant university. They don't like Miami because they're stuck in the armpit of the nation.

So he basically just admitted he's racist.

Cool.
That's part of it for sure.

I'm not one to throw out the racist label for a myriad of reasons, top of which is that I think the more it gets thrown out, the more diluted it becomes. Thing is, for most folks who grow up and stay in the Midwest, they don't know any better. I'm not referring to racism per se and I'm not trying to excuse it away. I'm referring to the belief of most folks there who believe the Midwest should be the center of the universe and that the coastal people are just arrogant rich people who don't do things "the right way." These are simpletons who look at the cost of living in other places and turn their noses up because "you get so much more for your money" in Southern Ohio or Western Wisconsin without ever considering the wage differences in those places or the quality of life differences, which are vast. The subtle racism - like calling us thugs - is sort of baked into the culture there. This mindset is how Penn State kept an active pedofile on staff so long, then filled their stadium along the way and after without batting an eye. It's how Michigan just keeps cheating (and Sherron Moore) and the support never dies. We take kids drinking on a boat and we deserve a death penalty; they play tummy sticks with underprivileged kids and want to leave a statue standing of the guy who was at the helm allowing this to continue for almost two decades.

This is not to say that all people who live in the Midwest are this way. There are obviously exceptions. However, the mindset I described is real.

I get you and completely agree with the dilution of the term.

But you and I both know why people in the Midwest, Middle America, the South, etc. grew up in the 80s hating Miami. We are old enough to remember.

That’s not how things used to be. At all.

Yes, everybody hated UM, but they also picked UM to win these games. Which UM did win, but by 3 times the spread and with more penalties then the other team had points.

THATS how things used to be… Miami as a favorite, embarrassing the blue bloods and rubbing their noses in it.

It’s funny you bring this up OP because I was just reflecting on this the other day. Growing up as a kid in the early 80’s and witnessing the level of hatred and animosity we endured from the media, opposing fans, and college football in general was on a completely different level in my opinion. At the end of the day, it’s Miami, so there’s always going to be a base level of hate, but I dunno man it just hits different now. Part of that has to do with the times and the stuff we did back then(dancing, showing up in fatigues, talking exorbitant amounts of **** during games) would never fly now. Also, Mario runs a tight ship and is a big believer in showing respect for your opponent so I don’t think some of that stuff would fly with him. When I heard McDonough talking nicely about us during the A&M last game I remember feeling like times have changed…a little. Again, I’m not downplaying the hatred still directed towards Miami, but I do feel like it’s….different now.

Us against the world is the way it has always been and the way it should be forever…..don’t want anyone pulling for us to succeed except Cane fans…
