I believe Manny is in pain, and on a personal level I empathize with his anguish. For guys who are extreme competitors, failure is soul crushing.

That said, Manny has had his shot. His contract paid him 3 to 3.5M annually for 5 years, so he'll have earned 16-17M for a job in which he'll be fired. How many guys on this board earn that amount over their careers? And how many kids' futures has he damaged because he's such a bad coach?

There's hundreds of people in a stadium after the teams leave. Do you think the place magically cleans itself up? The sidelines empty themselves? All the sideline supplies and equipment walk to their storage spots on their own?

Manny would be financially secure and won’t continue to have years taken off his life. He would be so much happier being a coordinator at a mid major school. We move on. No, "huh?" here—the point of the original post is that Diaz is masterful at PR and creates / manufactures these images, as he tries to shape the narrative.

He could've hung out in the bowels of the stadium to sulk and reflect; instead he's out there at 2 o'clock—where lurking reporters in the press box could snap of a picture of him sullen and lamenting how the past two weeks could've slipped away.

All the moves made are calculated and Manny Diaz wants this fan base to feel for him; "we're so close .... two plays away from 4-2 .... kids fighting hard enough—they should be 2-0 and in the driver's seat right now, but we're 0-2 because of dumb luck."
