It was a Richt trade-off, But Manny Can Be Successfull!

If Manny was this great up and coming coach, why was his best offer from TEMPLE???

He is not considered a "great and up and coming coach" - certainly not compared to at least a dozen other names. However, UM is long past the point of being in the market for great or potentially great coaches. We hire the Cokers, Shannons, Goldens, and moribund-Richts of the world - the program is not in the market to be great. We all know this. But Manolo seems like a decent guy, will approach the job energetically, and will keep the ship of being competitive in the mid-table of the ACC righted for the next few years.

I agree with your take. Manny was not my first choice but I don’t have an issue with him. Matter of fact he would have been an idiot for not asking for the position and even a bigger one for not taking it. I would have felt better about the decision if we conducted a true search and landed on him a few days from now. But we are here now and I will support him like I have the others until if and when he gives me reason not to do so.

I would add that Manny needs to realize that the administration and most of the BOT don’t really care about winning big. They care about competing for the Coastal every few years, maintaining relevancy and being considered one of the marquee names in the ACC. This allows them to enjoy the financial benefits of the tv deal and being in a Power 5 conference. They’ve shown it to him in the 3 years he’s been here by how they not only treat our once premier football program but other sports as well.

With that in mind, he needs to be like Howard and JJ and take their input with a grain of salt. If they come to him with a suggestion his first instinct should be to do the complete opposite. When he instills that us against the world mentality, he needs to realize that includes the AD, Administration and BOT like the greats before him did.
AMEN, thank you

I do not consider Diaz being a good hire. A very risky hire that may or may not work out. The staff he surrounds himself with will
be the determining factor whether he success or fails. Just hope he is smart enough to know that. That being said I do not blame him. for taking the job. He would have been crazy to.turn it down.

The 19 classs is shot. Cut the losses. No need to sign a bunch of stiffs just to fill it out. Hire a badass staff and get to cranking on 20.
Agree but bring in some hard hitting mofos if you know of any out there this cycle. No scrubs.

Next.....
