When you hire a coach with no head coaching experience then you have to hire lesser candidates below them because:

1) the head coach with no experience has paranoia
2) no one with the talent level necessary at this level is going to come take a job from someone that has no head coaching experience

The real indictment is that our Board of Trustees should know this point as they are supposed to be accomplished people in their own businesses, right??? I don't blame Manny at all, who wouldn't take their dream job? Actually Manny as a salesman is unbelievably talented, how he has convinced these kids to come here and find talent in the portal is very good. He will now have to find receivers that can catch, in the portal, along with cornerbacks that can cover, in the portal. He has to find them in the portal because no one is teaching them to do it on the practice field. Manny has addressed the problems that he can impact, he just doesn't know enough to be a head coach at this level of football yet, and we should not be the internship for that experience gathering. Our BOT's should respect the school more than they do for hiring someone at that level to coach this team, but they clearly do not care about this university and should not be on the BOT.

Finally, why are the players not holding the other players accountable. Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins should be transferring because they are embarrassed of their own performance from the peer pressure alone, but they do not seem to be embarrassed in the slightest. Players self-impose a "you mess up, you go to the bench immediately" rule. You drop a ball you take yourself out of the game, players can enforce those rules in many creative ways and this would help the whole program. Again, people that keep making the same mistakes are disrespecting their teammates, the program and the school, but most importantly themselves, hold yourselves accountable and hold your teammates accountable, isn't that the entire point of team sports???

This year he did Better than I expected and that really Invludes the recruiting trail

I thought he was a below average recruiter as DC here and assumed we would be in the teens AT BEST... but probably in the 20s as he would put a boring offense out with a nice defensive prospect

shocking that in year two to me the offense is WAY ahead of the defense and the defense needs to be blown up

next season might not be make it or break it (unless he has another 6-7 year and lose to FIU/LT teams) but he can build on it with another 10 win season keep this thing growing with good defensive coaching hires

Sorry, but coaches should make the decision to take guys out of the game for mistakes. I'd rather have a team full of guys who are competitors and want to compete and redeem themselves on the field, not a bunch of quitters who shut it down when @#$% happens on the field.

The problem for the Canes are guys like Pope and Wiggins feel like their drops are acceptable and are not held accountable. It is the coaches' job to instill that accountability by benching them for a stretch of time and make them want to go back and prove themselves on the field when they get the chance.
