It seems to me...

Thank God for this new thread. Had no idea Rosier wasn't good and some people think Richt can't call plays.

This site never ceases to amaze me. As if every poster here wants to win more than Richt who's professional reputation and livelihood are both on the line. According the the crowd here, Richt has better options at the QB position and better players on the OL but out of stubbornness and or stupidity he refuses to change the starting lineup. I'm as disappointed as every angry poster here but common.....

Yea because a backup has never come in and ended up being better than the starter. Sometimes coaches are so far in the forest they cant see the trees. Tom Brady was right in front of Belichick's face and yet he started Bledsoe over him.

you can have a bad or average Oline but a very good quarterback (ala Texas Techs, OK St's of the world) OR an average to sucking quarterback and a very good Oline (ala Notre Dame, Iowa) and still win consistently and some very big games. Obviously, you can't have both ala Miami. Easy decision for me, not sure why it is so hard for Richt to figure this out. Last year was a fluke. Nobody knew Rosier or was prepared for his bi-polar tendencies. This year, Rosier is not surprising anybody. The Defense is the reason this team looked good last year. Stop lying to yourselves. Make the move Richt.

You make good point about last year. There was NO film to study of any Miami running QB. Later in the season and now there is. That said, we have a lot of talent on this team and there is no reason we should not return to ACC title game.

@ThomasM

Great comparison. Hopefully we see that consistency with Perry as he gets more burn time. To borrow a line from the great Denzel Washington, "you gotta be who you are in this world". Rosier is who he is no matter how much Richt prays over him. His luck has run out. I don't expect UM to get the same breaks this year if Rosier is the starter. In that LSU game, you saw how Rosier was trying to win the game with his running ability or trying to hard to run which accounted for the excess QB run plays. That worked with Vtech and Notre Dame last year but it won't work with LSU, FSU, Vtech, BC this year. We couldn't mount a comeback because you can sense LSU slowly strangling this offense and Rosier and his abilities couldn't do anything about it. I doubt Richt likes being cornered like that. Or maybe he does. I don't know.

You can win a title with an average quarterback, aka "a game manager," as long as you have the pieces around him - strong running game, WRs that help your average quarterback look better than he really is, and an OL that keeps him clean. Feel like I just described Craig Krenzel. I mean, he didn't legitimately win a title, but still....

Yeah, I feel this way too. The book is out on Rosier and what he wants to do - and he's not talented enough to impose his will on the other team.

It seems to me that QBs behind bad o-lines only seem to find success playing in a league that doesn’t play defense. Ok. St. and Texas Tech play two teams that even try to play defense and they lose those two games every year.

Having a bad o-line isn’t a crutch when the d-line across the ball is worse.

His "livelihood" isn't on the line here as long as he stays clean and the team makes their sacrificial appearance in the ACC title game every couple of years.

Here's the question you need to ask yourself.do want to come close to winning a conference or national championship.if your is no but close get an okst or texas tech type of team.if you want a nc you need get bama/clemson type team.
