It’s TVD, Not Dawson or Mario

There’s no great OC without a great QB. TVD is the problem, not Dawson or Mario. You can’t call plays if your QB can’t competently execute. There is no confidence in TVD right now and this has affected the offensive game plan. The Dawson that we saw in the first 4 games did not suddenly forget how to coordinate a modern offense. Mario did not suddenly dislike the winning offense of the first 4 games in preference for the present.

I am tired of all this hire new HC or coordinator talk every year. Some of you guys here just like that. News flash - Mario and Dawson will be firmly here next season. The team has clearly improved in all areas and Stevie Wonder can see it. We are a QB away from being an elite offense. We are already an elite defense.

Seven wins or eight and a bowl game was projected by many before the season. We are on track. We, as fans, got greedy and ahead of ourselves after the first 4 games…especially after TA&M. Patience.

What happened the easy schemed up passes like the 2 TDs vs A&M in the red zone. That play to JG from motion and then the one to CY where he came across the line for an easy pitch and catch?
The walk on nut squad qb could handle plays like that but even those are not being utilized.

TVD is a huge liability for sure.
However, my concern is with the lack of creativity and adjustment by the staff.
We don’t even try to do anything different.
What they are doing is obviously not working, you might as well start thinking out side the box.
But Dawson and Mario seem to be unable to do that. That concerns me.

get Jalon Daniels in the transfer portal this year and we sin the ACC next year
Why would he come here? FSU will also be looking for a QB as will many other programs. What has this staff shown that would attract a top transfer QB? People have been harping on the fact that we couldn't be creative Saturday because Emory Williams is a true freshman and was making his second start of his career and first start on the road vs our arch rival who was undefeated and ranked #4 in the nation. Still, there were many things we could have done that would have been very easy even for an inexperienced Emory Williams to execute.

Everyone do yourselves a favor and watch the Student of the Game series by Roman Marciante. Particularly the latest episode breaking down the FSU/Miami game. Roman does a great job of keeping things simple and easy to understand. Roman highlights a few things in this video that Cristobal/Dawson could have/should have done that would have been very easy for Emory to execute. You could tell that Roman was baffled by the staff's inability or just flat out unwillingness to do any of these things.

Roman has been saying it all season. He's not a Dawson fan from the standpoint of the things you mentioned. He hasn't used the talent on the offensive side of the ball well all season. No adjustments to play calling or scheme. Everyone in college football knows what play is coming when we go 11 personnel with Cam McCormack....

TVD's poor showing is connected to what goes on with the play calling more than the fan base wants to admit. Add multiple injuries to that and you have the performance we've been seeing. WR fail to get separation more often than not. No plays to free up the RB and no use of the TE in the passing game. It's easy to blame him for everything.

You are partially correct but I blame the coaching staff 100000%. Their inability to recruit TOP QB's is the issue and their inability to sit TVD is another. We have no clue what Jaccuri can do except in practice. He needs an opportunity to plays a few FULL GAMES.

Even after the texas a&m game roman said he wasn't that impressed with Dawson’s offense. Too many people equate scoring points with how creative a offense is.

on dawson - 3 years of film on TVD - 3 years of watching him lack passion and leadership - they have to know better - jacurri and emory should have been playing since last year.
And he has film this year showing what he can’t do game after game and we keep rolling out the same ******* gameplan. Long drawn out routes to the sideline and void of any use of the flats and middle of the field. Just these tunnel screens which always look like they are 2” from a pick 6

We ran that Colby Young play in the clemson game. It just didn't go for a touchdown

Exactly! I was under the impression that this staff was very involved with self scouting because during the bye, that's all they would talk about. Self scouting this. Self scouting that. Blah blah blah blah self scouting, analyse our own tendencies blah blah blah.

I'll put it this way..... If this staff does any self scouting whatsoever, they are sending the information to our opponents. Not that opposing defensive coordinators need any help figuring out what we are going to do on offense. I have not seen any type of effort by our staff to change our tendencies or to set up our opponents by playing off our tendencies. There is no valid excuse for that no matter who the QB is or what his skill level might be. This is coaching malpractice and flat out incompetence. 8 million? For this half a$$ed garbage? There must be a clause in the contract that allows the contract to be voided in the case of willful negligence! It's literally mind-blowing!

I think a little historical perspective is in order.

First thing, a year ago, we were sitting with the #6 QB in the nation and looking good. We had a 2-teir approach with Emory Williams as a developmental project to flesh out the room for numbers and quality. Then the Gators ****ed it up for everybody (including themselves) and we lost our future QB late in the cycle. In an alternative universe, our room could have looked very different. That led directly to them needing to stay with a failing TVD mush longer than they should have. They have to do better bringing in top level QBs but let's not pretend that this was the "the plan". The intended path went sideways and they have yet to recover from it.

Second, we do have a clue what Jacurri can do. We saw him in extended action last year and it was painful to watch. I like the young man but he can't play QB at this level. And you can bet that the coaches have seen a great deal more than we have. If he was the answer, they would play him.

Third, TVD has been dreadful but he has not always been consistently dreadful. He occasionally plays well but it is just easy to forget because of how awful he can be. Last year, the MTSU game was one of the worst QB performances I have ever seen. Then he comes back two weeks later and puts up 496 yards against UNC and then 351 against VT. I know it looks like he is completely cooked but the man is Jeckel and Hyde. I have no idea what to expect from him.
