It’s fair to question if Richt can win the big one. But..

That’s the thing. We were a program in the gutter after three bad coaches. Richt might not be the guy to get our next ring. But he’s the guy to get us back to respectability and he’s a great face to get us in this century with facilities. Richt set UGA up to win. If that’s all he does for us it’s a success.

Richt isn't the coach that will lead us to #6

I just can't see it

Hopefully he does but it ain't looking to good..

Where not winning #6 unless major changes happen...It's quite obvious...
That's the key. I think Richt can get us there, especially if he continues to recruit well but it's obvious changes need to be made and Richt has a long history of being loyal. He's also mentioned a few times about how keeping staff together and continuity is huge. Maybe if some questionable coaches for what we need get poached, we have to just hope Richt is willing to hire and pay for legitimate replacements.

Amen x10! When you come out Game 1 after having all offseason to prepare and look the way we did, that's an indictment of the coaching and preparation, or lackthereof. It's one thing to lose, it's another thing to &hit all over yourself.

Richt can either be the HC who takes us to Top 10 but never quite over the hump, or he can return us to the top. If he doesn't look closely at his staff and make some changes, then I know which one it will be.

FSU and UF each took full advantage of the other schools mediocre coaching and won big while they were on top instate. Can Richt replicate the success of Jimbo and Meyer? Not likely to ever be easier to win than it is right now imo

A good QB solves a lot of Miami’s problems. Rosier is serviceable at best. He leaves a lot of plays on the field, missing reads and with the inaccuracy he has at times.

No, because those coaches were savages that would do WHATEVER it takes to win.

Richt hires his son, a bartender, a first time coach in Patke, a first time coach in Simpson, a first time coach in Rumph and refuses to give up play calling.

Both guys did whatever it took to win, and both left their programs in a complete mess. Are you that desperate for a title that you want some scumbag to come in here for a few years and then cripple the program?

Yep, program is already a mess

..man it sucks to have a crappy coach. Watching FSU has given me flashbacks. Our last two coaches walk out of the Glass Bowl with a L.

correct.

the formula for success with richt is pretty simple. his floor is going to be very high every year -- his teams very rarely lose to opponents they should beat. as d money points out, the last 2 coaching regimes teach us that isn't a luxury. richt's ceiling is definitely an open question, but i think you hope that miami-level recruiting makes us the division favorite every year, which means that in any season we can get to the ACC title game with one loss or less we're always just one win away from the playoffs.
