Issue in potential changes

Dugans can go. Something is definitely rotten in the WR room. I don't care if you can bring in talent. If you cannot develop it you are worthless.

We are all calling for a change and bringing in a true OC. Something that hasn't been talked about is that Thomas Brown and Ron Dugans currently share that title and are likely paid more because of it in attempt to keep them happy and in Coral Gables. Richt has built a loophole to increase their salaries with the title while still calling the plays himself. If an OC is actually brought in from the outside someone on the offensive staff has to go to make room for it. The easy thing we are dreaming for is Jon Richt leaves at QBC and the potential new OC is also the new QBC. My point is, it's not as easy as we'd like it to be and removing the OC title from either Dugans or Brown would likely mean they are departing as well. Frankly after watching today we need to fire the entire offensive staff and let an OC from the outside come in and hire his people. One can dream, right?
Have been a Dugans fan till now I am not giving up on him but the receivers were a bust this yr granted we lost #82 early which hurt us badly now JT4 but the receivers did not perform up to expations this yr Still have faith in Dugans.

What do they tell players who get upset? They should follow that same advice.

Be about the team not out for self, if they got a problem with it, then oh well suck it up & deal with it.

No one player is bigger than the program, neither is no one coach.

Would be tough losing Thomas Brown. We would probably lose our running back commitments.

Nope wait we have none.

The current staff will be retained and our offense will improve next year.
Where have we heard those same slurping noises before...and what was the "improve next year" result?
Oh yes -

I honestly hope Richt uses these last 2 garbage wins as an excuse not to make changes.

It will expedite his exit here. We'll start the year out getting throttled by our most hated rival and the calls for his head will get even louder. It's sad, but unfortunately it's the only real path we have to meaningful changes being made.

We'll win a meaningless bowl game against St. Brendans and Richt will spend all offseason preaching the virtues of a "3 game winning streak" and upward trajectory. He'll throw in a good helping of "what we need most is continuity" garbage and who knows....he may even donate another $1 million to the AD department in an attempt to guarantee himself another 3-4 years.

He's going to end up doing more damage here than any of us thought possible.

Aye. He's getting ****y when asked about changes.

He's now aware that we're raising **** on the boards - and I guarantee - Board of Trustees #1 is on this site a LOT - and Richt is aware of what that one Board member stated.

AND, I'd be willing to bet that tomorrow or Monday - he's going to have his meeting with the AD to do some 'splaining.

I fear he'll get an OC, and still interfere and dominate HIS stale ideas and impose restrictions and instructions on the new OC - which is going to cost us another year or two of insufferable BS.

I want him gone - not sticking around by making half-assed changes.

I couldn’t care less if Brown and Dugans walk once they lose the money. Money they never deserved in the first place. UM was probably fine with it if it worked, but they are not happy paying three OCs and not having an offence.

Yes to all of this.

This doesn't seem to be an issue at other programs.
Many schools have co-coordinators, assistant Head Coaches and other titles to mitigate several coaches having senior leadership
titles and salary.
But this may be a moot point, because if Richt is serious about overhauling the offense, he will need to bring in a true OC, and
allow that OC to bring in 1-2 assistants, so that would mean several of our assistants getting the boot.

Only the last 2 games. Outside of that they were decent. Also isn't fair considering we lost our top 2 during the year. OL has hands down been the worse group.

Naw; definitely disagree. The WR corps have been dog chit. All of these guys were highly recruited, including Cager, excluding Langham. These boys can’t catch a flu, and tbh, if u recall after Coley left, Richards soph year consisted of dropped balls as well. This yr, it’s been just imploding. No separation sans Thomas, and consistently dropping catchable balls

It's more of that they would be demoted losing their titles if we went to the outside to hire an OC with complete control. Demoting them and expecting them to stay is not realistic. You are correct that other programs have "Co-Coordianators" and other flashy titles and my point is that because we have done that with Brown and Dugans that something has to give with them if we actually hire from the outside.

Any OC hire needs the autonomy to hire his own staff. Nobody currently on payroll needs to be there next year.

The last sentence says it all. Honestly who cares if Brown and/or Dugans leave? I like Dugans but he is replaceable.

We don't have a dedicated OC, and that 's the biggest problem. It's OC by committee, and I've been told "if you have 3 guys doing a [OC] then you have no [OC]". I suppose Richt could hire an "analyst" or "quality control" guy to "work with" the offense but not recruit. Richt would like to maintain play-calling duties and I have no problem with that, but I think the staff needs someone dedicated solely to the offense or passing game and this could be a work-around.

Easy solution. Fire all three of them
