This is not a broma, guys. I'm not Ashton Kutcher-ing you.

I don't think Zion Nelson starts at LT in 2021 despite what Todd McShay thinks.

Hot take:

Zion Nelson won't be Miami's LT this year because Justice will make it a point to start 5 seniors.

Number of career starts are in ( )

LT Scaife (31) -- Nelson -- McLaughlin

LG Oluwasuen (21) -- Rivers -- Seymore

C Gaynor (25) -- Clark -- Rodriguez

RG Donaldson (34) -- Traore -- Walker

RT Williams (25) -- Campbell -- Washington
So Zion was our best OL last year and they'll just bench him? Put down the booze dude.

Walker is a good kid with issues that need to be kept private. I’ve said this all the way back we he transferred in. When I said he “needed time” it meant more than just physically.

Btw it’s sad it took to his Sr year for the staff to realize Scaife is not a guard , he’s always been a tackle.
Scaife was starting at RT as a True freshman. He didn’t play to well. So I understood why they slid him inside. Personally I think he could get it done at center

Good to hear Scaife is thriving again at tackle, but surprising after Jarrid Williams came back for another season and now looks like he could be benched. Would be harsh but glad Manny/Lashlee are putting the best on the field regardless of the situation.

Play it cool, hotshot.

Zion has a bright future but he didn't win the LT job in 2020 until it became abundantly clear that Campbell could not hack it 4 games into the season. What I'm proposing very well may not happen but the arrival of Oluwasuen definitely shakes things up and allows for better competition along the OL, especially at LT, where I predict that Zion and Scaife will compete for a starting role.

Zion will have a strong case to start at either tackle position but ultimately Coach Justice will begin the season with the 5 most experienced and mature players. There's already a narrative with tweets about Miami having the most combined OL starts and Diaz/Justice will want to play that up because it's all about optics with Diaz.

This has not, and likely will not continue to be the case.

Just my advice but expect a heavy dose of senior starters at the outset, especially since we open against ALA.

Campbell isn't a tackle...he's better at guard. Even a dumbass could have guessed he wouldn't last 4 games there. You play the best players idc what year they are.

When stories began to emerge about Nelson being regarded as a first-round pick in 2022, the reaction among Miami fans of "WTF?" was almost unanimous.

He's a good kid and a great story, and he's started 20 games at left tackle, so there is a good shot he will start again in 2021. However, competition will be much tougher this season. He doesn't have a McKinnie vs Freeney game on his resume. Can anyone name one elite pass rusher who Nelson has shut down as a LT?

Everyone agrees that Scaife has upside at tackle, and Williams started every game he played in last season, so I don't know why this is controversial aside from idiots like McShay parroting a bunch of preseason fluff about players they know next to nothing about.

Yeah I'm just saying it took Garin Justice a couple months to trust Nelson enough to unseat Campbell. He's acquitted himself well during his time here, but he's not worthy of a 1st round grade and his job isn't safe imo.

Zion was the worst T in college football his freshman year so yea it was fair to give someone else a chance to take that second T spot to open up the 2020 season.

Campbell beat him outright but Zion stayed ready and performed admirably. He may get there but all of this 1st round talk is premature imo. He's got some starts under his belt and was probably our most improved player the last month of the season but the 1st round buzz is wild.
