He entered the portal with a destination in mind which is why he had a no-contact tag. Why would be engaged on getting another RB when their was a very possible option where all 5, or 3-4 outta 5, of our RBs returned; with a sixth in a true freshman Mallory entering. He would still get a bunch of carries, he's exactly what we need opposite Fletcher. Imagine someone with his speed getting to the 2nd level. Some of these 15-20 yard runs could be 60-70 yard TDs with a guy like Brown
No need to waste the budget when we trust what we have, and what we have has a variety of styles to em.
It’s also sets a precedent that sends a signal to other HS and college recruits that could backfire on us in future.
Kewan Lacy got no burn at Mizzou, then is starring at Ole Miss. Judkins was a superstar at Ole Miss, was brought into OSU as the starting RB and was splitting carries with Henderson who was better on the year. Donaldson was brought into OSU’s running back room to start, and a true freshman took the job from him. Look at USC — their starting rb is a walk on. Not as simple as plug and play.
Other teams know he leads the country in ypc too lol; they’ve offered a multimillions. Can’t dole that out every year for every position—just not realistic .
Lastly and most importantly, look at all of Louisville’s YPC the last two years. Yes Brown is very good but he is not an outlier on his team. Which points to Brohm’s brilliance in scheming and timing runs. Keyjaun Brown, Duke Watson both have seasons w/ 7+ ypc.
Against Kentucky, Brohm turned a true freshman WR who had 1 catch on the year into RB2, and started another true freshman RB who had 17 carries on the year; both of them ended up with 100+ yards on 5ypc.
Isaac Brown is better than all of them but it is fair to say that the system is helping him out. If he goes to Texas we will soon see how much it is. But we know enough to know that we aren’t missing on Ladanian Tomlinson, our staff evaluated him coming outta HS.
