We played wide open high flying/scoring offense last year so idk about the narrative that Mario is stuck on one philosophy, The problem this year is that Carson Beck is a decent QB but not a game changer..dude can’t run, can’t read defenses at a high level and sucks in the RPO where Cam excelled at ..there’s a ceiling your offense hits with a guy like him, but I’ll agree we didn’t do him any favors with the scared play calling. The floor and talent level are certainly higher with Mario but there still seems to be some fatal flaws that could prevent him and us from getting back to an established powerhouse
The biggest is game management, game-plan preparation and conservative philosophy in the run game and beyond
The worst part about a 10-2 season and no playoff is Mario ignoring the fact that some of his philosophy and approach needs adjusting
Yeah I had blacked that one out thanks for reminding me.
It's a huge game, and I will say it's bigger for one reason. It's a chance to break a trend. If Mario is going to succeed here, he has to get over the late season hump. If we go out there and lose today, it's a bad, bad, bad look. Everything on the line, and he blows it. Win, and it breaks that trend. That's huge, in my opinion. I think he wins today and it helps recruiting. Just seeing Miami end strong, even if we get cheated by the committee, recruits will see we finished strong.I’d argue that this game is bigger for Mario (although one can argue both sides easily). For one, this is a chance to get 10 wins AND get to the CFP. 10 wins is a big number in CFB and we had that before the cuse game.
Also, last year we all knew we were a heavily flawed team with a trash defense. This year’s team is arguably more complete than last year’s.
Let just do something different at end of season games like this. Play focused be physical play with no remorse .
PITT is betting we’ll beat ourselves in this one.
It’s our choice, we will see early on .
Texas has 3 losses and 2 of them really bad ones. They are not getting in whatsoever. We make it to the playoffs and everything else will be gravy. However, with Texas beating A&M last night, idk if it even matters if we beat Pitt now (from a playoff perspective).
I need a win vs Pitt and Texas to jump ND. ND shouldn’t be IN and we’re OUT when we have the H2H win with similar resumes and the same record.
IMO this will make the committee decision easy now - because they can justify moving Texas to 10 and ND to 11….but they couldn’t justify having ND in and Miami out.
Kills me to say this, but we have a top 5 team. IF we lose today, we'll be barely a top 20 team. Imagine that. A team that many were saying was the best team in the country two months ago, to barely being top 20. That will not sit well with me.I agree with this. We have been a fraud that often makes it to the top 10 at some point in the season polls only to fall apart. Let's finally win 4 straight to end the season, go on to win whatever game is next, and start looking like a legit PROGRAM for the first time in 20+ years.
Yes it will. He is responsible for the product he puts on the field. He is to blame because his team that he leads put themselves in this position where this game decides their fate. We lost to two teams that we should have steamrolled. I don’t care what anybody says. We should have beat both teams by no less than 2-3 touchdowns. The talent gap between us and them is absurd. Will it Mario's fault if passing game struggles in cold weather with some pics and drops and we lose?
The talent gap between us and them is absurd.
I pretty much agree with this but to play devil’s advocate - how many other attainable coaches have us with this roster?Exactly. Great point. All those double digit mid level ACC losses - and he has a scapegoat for another year. Assuming he wins tomorrow.
How many other coaches have us at 10-1 at least right now with this roster and schedule?
Go Canes!
It definitely is. Louisville has a bunch of mid tier players who they get more out of. And SMU is the same along with players who couldn’t see the field in Miami. This is the biggest fallacy that has plagued our message boards for 20+ years. No, the talent gap isn't "absurd".

Louisville has 15 4 stars and 52 three stars on their team and no 5 stars. Miami has 5 five stars, 40 four stars, and 36 three stars. Thats a massive massive massive difference dude. Not at all. Not even close.

I don’t disagree with you, they do not deserve to jump the teams ahead of them.Texas has 3 losses and 2 of them really bad ones. They are not getting in whatsoever.
