Is this the best position group ever

Daryl Williams is still one of my favorite players ever. Reed is my actual favorite football player ever. Bennie Blades is way up there. I loved Meriweather here. What a fun position group to watch. Shame we've underperformed at recruiting and developing Safeties. Florida should be a haven for WRs and QBs who moved over to Safety. Jenkins was a guy i liked here, but was stuck under D'Ono. Got one clean year. Still a big Gurvan fan. We'll see.
D Dub was one of my favorite Canes also. Right there with you.

ST - I have never seem a better athlete or more dominant defender in college football. Would have achieved GOAT status, imo.

Bennie Blades - one of the guys who built the house, under-appreciated in many ways because people remember Reed and Taylor these days. Blades won the Thorpe, 2x AA, CFB HOF.

Ed Reed - best safety ever.

Burgess Owens - played too long ago so folks don’t know any,ore, but first team All America, 13th overall pick in draft, pro bowl, superbowl title.

As UM sr Bennie Blades was often compared Kenny Easley by some pro scouts.. others said he was good but not quite as good as Easley. At the time Easley was considered the best safety in pro football - ahead of Ronnie Lott. Blades remains UM highest drafted safety ever going 3rd overall in the 88 draft

Easley better than Lott??....Nah man....

You probably shouldn't forget about Rusty Medearis if you are talking about entire DL. 4 sacks vs Nebraska in the 1992 Orange Bowl

How could he have been left off? He is one of my favorites. He was absolutely un-blockable. His motor was of the charts. If not for his injuries, he would have been a 1st round pick in the NFL. Maybe a HOF’er. He was a Beast!!!

We are officially Notre Dame fans

All we have left to hang onto is the past. All those players named played at Miami 15, 20, 30, 35 years ago

He was an absolute terror. When a Nebraska player was asked who was better, he said, "Miami. Washington didn't have #98." He was just that dominant.

Further to that, almost started a thread to make the following point:

Miami has not had a football All American since 2005!!!

We had All Americans consistently from the 1950s to 2005. NONE since. It’s stunning to look at. Anyone who thinks our talent hasn’t been down a lot is missing the picture. UM guys didn’t make AA teams before Howard because of team success. The lack of top level talent the past 15 years is stunning.

@DMoney
We dont need All Americans! We are NFLU!!!
