USC President Bob Caslen released a statement on Sunday informing the campus community that South Carolina will not hold in-person classes after Thanksgiving break. While the university still tentatively plans for students to return to campus in the fall, changes to the schedule indicate South Carolina will be operating very differently due to the COVID-19 pandemic

As it should be. Extra time away from campus and home during "flu" season
Could go either way on this one. College kids, and more importantly their families, may be better off with the kids on campus than at home at this time (fall/winter start of "flu season"). But you have to get why they are doing this. Heck, there's not really much school to go back for after Thanksgiving anyway. If they can do exams on line, why not have your review and study sessions online as well? Solid compromise.

Goes to show the level of thought and planning that is being put into opening college's back up this fall. Hats off to them.

Perhaps they're concerned that a second wave of Covid-19 hitting or that the students might bring the virus back to campus after the Thanksgiving break. Or that the last regular season football game coincided with Thanksgiving.

I saw an interview with the president of Notre Dame this morning on the early morning news. The main concern is kids scattering all over for the Tgiving break , being exposed to all kinds of people, etc. and returning to campus and possibly spreading germs. In theory, having no break from August to November will enable the Administration to control certain factors with kids on campus.

South Carolina isn't starting earlier but they eliminated any Fall Break and will also end at Thanksgiving.

the biggest problem is that each state and/or university will follow different paths which even if we return to normal those on our schedule might not. Michigan is being ultra conservative which could impact our Michigan State game even if we decide to play our schedule.

If you were hospitalized for Covid you are PERMANENTLY DISQUALIFIED from serving in the military. Apply those physical fitness principles to D1 athletes and you can see how quickly this can turn into disaster.

This is so stupid at this point. How many people know someone under the age of 65 who died from covid? You’re chances of dying from covid without an underlying symptom of less than half of 1%.

Tell the whole story, chief.

RE: “PERMANENTLY DISQUALIFIED”

Recruits can still enter the military, as long as they have a waiver. A waiver which is needed for many medical conditions, that all need waivers.

”The new requirement adds COVID-19 hospitalization to a long list of medical conditions — such as asthma — that require waivers.”

Also, this has literally nothing to do with college athletes. There are college football players that have asthma. There are elite athletes that have asthma. And many other types of diseases.

Do you know the success rate of a covid waiver? Do you know the level of permanent lung damage rates caused in hospitalizations and non hospitalizations? There are treatments for asthma nice try though.

Lol, like a recruiter is going to include that. I joined with a torn meniscus.

0. my whole family had it. we sat & talked about how overblown it was while having it. it wasnt fun but it wasnt nearly what the media is making it out to be.

So, they just pulled it arbitrarily out of their ***? I have a son in college and my nephew is going to be a freshman. Both at P5 schools. STFU.
Does that make you an expert or just a coward? You're p5 nephews can catch alcohol poisoning. You're going to ban alcohol?
