Is this real life?

That's certainly pretext for their racism. It's good to see that you're so intimately acquainted with the buyout terms. And I'm sure the new president will be ecstatic to walk into this firestorm.

It's always great to start a new job where everyone hates the administration and is much less willing to donate money. I know I'd rather walk into that mess than into one where the present regime fixed their mistakes and has everyone excited for the upcoming season.

I'm sure they're glad there are people like you gobbling up the propaganda. The UM propaganda machine is working on some people. Jessie The Mark and the rest of that numbskull crew should pump out a graph on this.

You can be the new president of a university and come in, make your own choices for your athletic director and football head coach or you can walk into a situation where the previous admin left you with $8M in dead money to a coach that they fired, hired someone else that you may not want to have the job.

Which seems like a better fit?

And also the fact that you think people will stop donating to the university because the football team stinks is hilariously absurd.

Why did UF choose to go the other way then? What makes you think the new president will care about the athletic department in general?

I don't think every president gives a *** about athletics one way or the other. I think some seriously care (i.e. have high standards for athletics) and some don't (i.e. don't care unless there is a reason to care). These presidents that care might not do it because they like sports but simply because they have standards and want to achieve success in all areas at the university.

I think some prefer to focus on the university as a whole and prefer to hire specialists under them and have specialists (i.e. athletic director) run their departments (athletics).

A president has a lot to do. Not sure they would want to have to come in and set up the athletic department right away.

We will see how well the athletic department and the athletic revenue look with another year of ALbortion if he is retained.

UF can obviously afford to pay buyouts, we can't. Not to mention the vast difference in what SEC schools take in just from TV contracts compared to the ACC.

I have no doubt Golden would be fired if Miami had the financial ability to buy him out and pay another coach. Also I don't think Foley is going anywhere for a long time at UF where James here is probably going to lose his job almost immediately.

The next president will have to have some vested interest in the success of the athletics at the university, but it depends on the financial aspect of it all. Getting the best bang for your buck HC will be imperative because that's what will work here right now until there is sustained success within the program.

I stopped reading after your first sentence because you don't know chit. I'm not denying the SEC makes more but here is the truth...

In 2013-14, the ACC distributed $20.8M to each team in the ACC. This was almost identical to the SEC. This new TV deal (done May, 2012) was an increase of $4M per year from the 2010 contract (when ALbort was hired). Things are much different from when ALbort was hired or when RS was hired. We have much more money and that is simply by belonging to the ACC and the new contract. Our new deal will pay us $60M more over the life of the deal. We don’t even have to field a good team and we get paid. This is not to mention that we make money outside of belonging to the ACC (tickets, merchandise, parking etc.).

Poor UM. Poor UM. Poor UM. We can negotiate terrible, illogical and unnecessary extensions but we can't take responsibility for our ineptitude.

Now subtract the cost of sports that aren't profitable. You morons have to stop thinking that all of the money to the AD will go back into the football program because it's a football contract.

Blame Title IX, blame whatever, but we don't have SEC money. We don't have public money.

I am aware how it works. Try reading the thread (Money Myth) and learning how it works. We have the money. We have plenty of money.

We choose not to spend it. Don't forget it.
