Impossible to ascertain. Those who want Richt to retire here contradicts how we won so many championships...it was with south Florida talent (which we have) but with a variety of coaches that had different philosophies...so can one coach be successful over the long haul? Sure if he recognizes strengths and weakness and can adjust to the talent he has instead of maintaining one system. Also our long run we were not in a conference and being in a conference all the opponents build to beat the top dog and we thrive as underdogs. The idea of a conference coach is to win the conference as a main objective and if accomplishing that, perhaps you are good enough for a NC run. Saying we are back cannot be determined in one season...next year will tell us much more about this team and our future. This year put a target on our backs, see what that target has done to FSU...they had one great run to a NC with an exceptional college QB and now the ACC has them figured out ala this years record. I hope Richt is Shula like and can adjust to his talent instead of running a system that he has to plug talent into. I liked Butch Davis because he loaded us up with RB's and wore teams out, I am happy with Richt as a teacher, happy with his assistant coaches, and the way he is using what talent we currently have...especially since we have a weak running attack which is our achilles heel that can be remedied with one recruiting class and a healthy Mark Walton. During our glory years we brought in up and coming coaches who left for the NFL after success here....Golden was supposed to be that type of talent but was a bust. Time will tell if a more experienced coach can keep us on top, I expect Mark Richt can. No matter, since IT"S GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE!
