As a cowboy fan I look at what they have become this year and wonder if the canes are a one year wonder or can we keep this up. Many breaks this year, next year we will have a x on our back.

No. All teams lose eventually. Hopefully we don't lose this year though. But we have better recruiting classes coming in in the future so this overall level of 10+ win seasons will be sustained.

We've got a window of 5ish years to win some NCs, after that teams tend to fall apart a bit (I'm looking at you fsu). This is in no way certain, just a thing that seems to happen to many teams. If Richt/next coach stay on top of coaching changes and keep recruiting hungry guys it can go on indefinitely, but that turns out to be very difficult to pull off.

Whatever the case, this team should get real scary in the next few years. Enjoy.

Yes it's sustainable. However to do it you need to continue to recruit well and develop players. Once you have the pieces in place (which we don't yet) you can sustain it IMO.

What is the level of play you're talking about? Undefeated? Obviously not, even outstanding teams eventually lose by hook or by crook. Playoff contention? Given the lack of another alpha dog in our division, I don't know why not. We've seen this team field talent for the last decade, knowing that if a competent staff were in place, they would win a lot of games they were losing. 8 wins has been the norm. 10 or 11 wins should be the norm going forward.

teams who recruit the wrong players fall apart. bama hasnt fallen apart and we have access to better talent. We have until we hire another coach who isnt qualified for this job

I thought you were referring to THIS season which IMO is the more relevant question. I don't think we have played a legit top 15 team except VT. The game on Friday is no gimme especially if the temps are the expected 44 high.. UVA showed how to do it against us. Run on first down get a couple. Run for a couple more or throw short pass for a couple on second and then quick pass on 3rd. Manny gives that especially first half. Don't let out DL beat you with sacks or on outside running plays. Very good game plan I was impressed. That said our competition and playing atmospheres go to a completely new level starting this week. I'm not sure we can win another game until the Bowl. I will be there regardless.

Your level of f*ggotry seems to be sustainable...hopefully your **** can withstand the pressure of being filled with 8 d*cks at once.

Look at our 1983-1994 run. Extend it back to 82 if you want, we had a decent team that year and would have done better had Kelly not gone down. I don't see why it can't. Erickson's recruiting just started to get lazy in certain areas, and of course, then there were the sanctions.

Stay out of serious trouble and don't get lazy with recruiting, and we can be relevant for a long time. Also, it'll be on Richt to keep up the quality of his coaching staff. Every team is going to have assistant coaches leaving at some point....who knows who and when that will be for us, but when it happens, Richt will need to make good hires. Based on his track record, I'm pretty confident he'll be able to do this, when the time comes.

Yes . Over the next 10 years I believe we will win 10-12 games 6-7 of those times and win 1-2 titles. I do think here and there there will be 9-10 wins seasons when we are really young but yes this is easily sustainable . Just look at Bama over the last 10 years or OSU over the last 4-5 years . They are both always top 5ish teams.

It's sustainable because of a combination of a head coach who will retire here and the South Fl. talent pool. The administration had to really go out of its way to mess it up the first time(Coker,Shannon). Golden was an honest mistake. On paper he was a viable candidate from a resume standpoint, there was a national search with other candidates considered. We are going to lose Diaz and will have to fight off bidding wars for Kool but the head coach is the key. He has stature and other good candidates will want to coach with him. Yes it's sustainable
