Is this cryptic tweet a sign of whats to come?

Why assume the parting of Simpson and Manny the first time was anything less than amicable? I don't remember anyone saying it was unpleasant. My recollection is Simpson stayed and finished out the recruiting cycle and let Manny announce a replacement. It wasn't a secret that Simpson had the long time relationship with Mark Richt. The rest of the defensive staff were clearly Manny's guys and if Simpson did have any kind of "philosophical/schematic" differences, it didn't seem to be something the public knew.

IDK. If Simpson comes back, that could also mean Manny intends to tweak his defense a bit...
I have no insider intel, but I never got the impression that Manny had a problem with Simpson or forced him out. It seemed like he wanted to move on once Mark retired.

As I said yesterday. I believe Pruitt wanted to hire Simpson and they go way back. Tennessee put on a hiring freeze when Pruitt had Simpson and an OL coach lined up to hire.

Simpson reached out to manny before that and Manny seemed to be going in another direction. That was last week.

Would be a good hire. I usually don’t like recycling coaches but I’ve said before that Simpson could be our DC and would do well. He’s that well thought of. He’s got the legit NFL experience now so it shouldn’t be in doubt.

but as far as I’ve heard he’s not the guy yet.
Thanks for filling that in! That's the impression that I had of Simpson, minus the details of his dealings with Pruitt. If Simpson comes back, it will be one MAJOR piece of the D that Manny doesn't have to worry about. I hope this happens. If we don't bring Simpson back, then it better be one of the other studs mentioned on here and not a bride's maid scenario with us settling on a last minute hire.

It's not like Simpson left us for another school. The dude got not only one of the 32 NFL DL positions in the world, but in his home town too. You give a guy a high five when he walks into your office to tell you he's taking the same position in the NFL.
Exactamundo! And, with the other coaching roles being soldified with strong coaches, Jess's training could make guys like Nesta shine. I mean, look what he did with Willis. Why wouldn't you want to come back and bolster your league chances if you're Nesta?

I'd be happy with Chris Wilson, Partridge and Patrick as well, but if we don't bring Jess back, then it needs to be a comparable hire like those guys.

I see it more like the board and James really want the Manny experiment to succeed so they can save face. It seems they are opening the vault.

Has nothing to do with saving face. You always want to succeed no matter what. Difference im seeing now is theyre willing to make staff changes when in the past we wouldnt see it.

Now will Manny ultimately succeed?? Thats the 1,000,000 question. If he fails it wont be because he refused to make staff changes. He wont keep getting these chances over and over. Im glad they didnt give him an extension either

Next year has to be Coastal title and trip to ACC Championship.
