Is there anyone out there that doesnt think the Canes can win this thing?

When we are playing our best football, it does look like we can beat anyone. But mostly, we've only seen that in bursts.

OP wrote our defense is built for this...and I agree. I would add that our lines are built for this.

Lines travel. We have good lines and good vet QB.

If we play focused good football for a long sustained time, we'll win. If we play like that, but only incrementally, we'll lose.
You could say the same thing for a few teams in the country (probably 10 of the 12 teams in the CFP).

I think this is a fairly even matchup. Might favorable them by a bit because they are at home.

Agreed.

I guess sticking to one's game plan and consistency are the name of the game.

Boring but that will probably bring a natty to the team that does it. I do like how we are seemingly starting to 'click' at the right time. If our lines and Beck play well (that's our game plan)...we win.

that's me eryday this week - go canes baby, go canessss!!! please JC pleaseeee

My only concern is what happens when teams start taking Toney away? We all can believe this squad can play with anyone but we're not built to get into a shoot-out. I'm almost looking past A&M though because I think we can handle them; OSU worries me.

Fair point. I’m no coach, but offer this: Two weeks to prepare for this team, Dawson needs to design plays to use Toney as a decoy, and have Beck go to 2nd reads and on from the get go, even if means gain intermediate yards in the first half. This will create hot receiver(s) this half other than Toney. This will also mitigate Beck’s happy feet, if there. Second half, we go back to Toney. Of course, the run game will have to be decent all throughout, to create passing opportunities. Whew, my two cents.

our most complete game was the beat down we gave to USF. i watched the condensed game today:

our defense was swarming nasty, but two things jumped out to me that i forgot . . . fletcher's rushing and beck's rpo rushing. if we get that back, we winning the ship.

is Miami good enough to win? Yes. But there are several concerns

Concerns: Scott injury. An average run game. offensive weapons outside of Toney. an offense that seems to be relying upon trick plays to score. #1 in pass coverage. although Beck has been playing good, he still had an INT vs Pitt (his last game). Finally, game is on the road at a very hostile place to play.

The crazy part is I actually worry LESS when we’re playing teams like A&M, The Suckeyes, and Georgia than I do when we’re playing a sleepy nooner against an unranked team. These are the type of games this team excels in. They’re gonna be hyped and ready to go. No worries here.

I really think the deciding factor may come down to this: will Beck be willing to run the ball? Will he play his most dynamic football and extend plays? Will he lower the shoulder and dole out contact when needed to get a first down? To me, that has been our offense's (and team's) biggest weakness.

Elite defense with pass rushers and cover corners, experienced QB who is accurate, playmakers on offense (Toney, Pringle), and an Oline that can matchup to any dline

Yeah we can make a run.,. We ain’t an easy out

As for A&M, I think we match well. Their résumé is bloated from beating bad SEC teams. To me it’s basically 50/50, with a slight edge for them just because they’re at home.

For the whole bracket, I’d still take OSU/UGA vs the field.

Our offense is just ok and Beck worries me. I don't love our skill guys, Toney excluded, vs the top teamsa and our C is not good. If we fall by 14 or more, I’m not confident Beck can dig us out of that hole
But overall I’m optimistic. I think we’ve got a real shot against anyone outside the top 3, and at least a puncher’s chance against the top 3.

To me outside of Ohio State, Indiana and maybe Georgia we are one of the best teams in the playoff. I could definitely see us make a run but winning 4 highly competitive games in a row will be difficult.

This is what he doesn't need to do. Scramble and slide because if he does the above and gets injured, guess who's coming to dinner?

We are the most dangerous team in the playoffs.
Good trenches, speed everywhere, good veterans, great young players and a battle tested QB ready to win a Championship.

We have our flaws of course and can lose to anyone but we are the team no one wants to face.

I like our chances.

I think we have the ability to win it all.

I think TAMU is the toughest first rd matchup due to road atmosphere. Can we make sure not to false start ourselves? That shouldn’t be an issue for the other playoff games.

Other than that, I think our postseason will come down to how we handle momentum shifts. If we start slow or get into a mid game rut, can we bounce back the next series or do we have multiple series where we struggle (either offensively or defensively)?

Miami can beat any team on the bracket, yes, even OSU. The problem is, if we get the rattled Carson Beck, then Miami can most certainly lose to any o ne of these teams.

Having said that, we go all the way and it starts with sacking Marcel Reed 5 times.

I talked with my brother who’s a diehard UGA fan about the playoffs. He watches us a fair amount and I watch UGA a fair amount.

We both kinda have the same conclusion. Miami won’t get blown out. Our defense is good enough to keep us in every game. Offensively can we play mistake free ball. Obviously everyone has that a prerequisite, but if Beck tosses a few INTs, he will start to press some. If we can’t run the ball, can we get creative enough throwing the ball to overcome it.

Whoever we play, we be battered and bruised once the clock hits 00:00. Every game will be a physical war. If we can blend weeks 1-5 & the last four together we can beat anyone in the tournament. If we beat OSU & UGA, I don’t see us losing the title. Those are the two I’d put all my money on that aren’t named Miami.
