Is the SEC the worst Power 5 conference?

They are 6-6 in noncon play. If App State had a kicker they'd be 5-7.

I also have to say that the Vandy USCe game is about the most terribly played CFB game I've ever watched.

I think the PAC is worse this year

Their best team is what...Stanford? Give me a break, Stanford. That's a weak conference right now

Then you must have never seen the Big Ten Pam Ward specials, games that ended with scores of 5-2, and 6-3.

Slow your roll, there's a lot of room between "overrated" and "worst power 5 conference". I think everyone is trying a little too hard to draw conclusions from the first weekend of the year.

Hot up and coming coaches like Tom Herman are no longer taking SEC jobs because they simple cannot compete with BAMA. The money is too big elsewhere. Landing an SEC job ihas now become a very bad career move.

Instead they get garbage like Smart, Muschamp, Freeze, Jones, McIlwain, etc.

Coaching is EVERYTHING in college football and the gap in that league will continue to grow as long as Saban is around.

Lot of truth here. Saban is clearly the 800 pound gorilla. Since Tebow graduated, SEC dominance has really just been Bama dominance. From time to time another SEC program will pop up and punk Bama, but they all fade back and Bama keeps dominating. Meyer knew what he was doing getting out of the SEC for a regular shot at championships.

One bad week doesn't erase over 10 years of dominance. That being said, since when do Miami fans give a **** about conferences? National championships should be our only priority moving forward.

Interesting point of view but as long as the SEC pays what they pay they will attract top talent.

Houston upped Tom Herman to 3 mil per year.

Smart got 3.75 mil from Georgia.

Muschamp got 3 mil from USC.

Richt got 4.1 mil from UM.

Money is about the same outside of Meyer, Harbaugh and Saban.

Who was the last "top talent" head coach that took an SEC job?

Jimbo Fisher will never leave FSU for LSU for exactly this reason.

Why are the Gary Patterson, Tom Herman, Mark Dantonio, David Shaw type guys not taking SEC jobs?

Dominance?

The winner of the SEC East went 7-1 in conference and then immediately went to overtime with FAU before getting destroyed by FSU and Michigan. The second best team in the West lost to Memphis in its only non-conference test.

You people have to quit associating "national champion" with "dominant conference". We get it....Alabama is really good. But the other 13 aren't and have been gravy training off Alabama for five years now.
