Is Rick just stubborn, or is it far worse?

He’s delusional.

UM is the Overlook Hotel for coaches. You come here and end up absolutely insane after a while.

Seriously though. I swear there's gotta be some weird Eyes Wide Shut/ Bohemian Grove type of schit going on under Jake Blames watch.

Seemingly normal guys come here and within 24 months they are all bat-schit crazy.

He clearly hates Perry at this point.

I don’t know if you are old enough to remember a player named Delvin Brown. Delvin played a lot early in his career and was looking like a pretty good prospect. He got in Booch Davis’s doghouse and was never heard from again.

I get the feeling Perry is in a similar place even though I don’t think he’s a very good QB right now anyway and would do little to nothing to help us get around Rick’s busted offense.

I’m not but appreciate the history lesson. I agree that Perry is done at Miami. If Richt absolutely doesn’t want to burn Williams’ redshirt (for whatever outdated reason), he should try out Weldon because we are facing the real possibility of 1 scholarship qb next spring.

Guys who can’t handle this tough environment, where we only accept winners, go crazy because we saw this program be dominant for 20 years. We were the premiere football program with 5 different coaches. Then, all the smart fans realized we just need to keep the top talent home and not **** up on gameday.

I refuse to believe that there aren’t two coaches (one for offense and one for defense) and 4-5 strong recruiters that can’t bring our program back to prominence.

This **** really isn’t that hard and that’s why the rest of the country thinks Miami fans are crazy because they dont live around these amazing athletes. They never saw sean Taylor, Duke Johnson, Antonio Brown, chad ochocinco, nick bosa, Chad thomas, and so forth in high school. Sprinkle in your Ed reed’s, deejay Dallas, & dj Williams and then you’re really cooking.

We also **** up because our AD doesn’t force our head coach to do anything because he gave him all the power when luring him to the university, gave him goodwill by allowing him to donate to our ipf, and absolutely lost any hope of leverage when we extended him to 2024

Wow! Carlos Jones. I remember him having to replace the starter in a bowl game and lit it up. Can't remember if it was the Orange Bowl and if it was his freshman year.
#Canememories
Carlos Jones had the game saving Pick against FSU in the 1994 nite game.
Never heard about him again in '95..

Carlos Jones is a more extreme example. From every game starter to never playing.
Carlos got injured I believe and wasnt the same when he came back .He also didnt make it in the NFL. Sam Shields -thats a guy who was always in RS's doghouse

And when we bring in a Lincoln Riley we will suck on defense, I just want a **** coach who will win even if we run the **** wildcat!
You missed the whole point LCE was making and I disagree that we automatically have to suck if we bring in a sharp offensive minded coach. Even if we lose Manny to a HC job, an aggressive, attacking style DC along with a innovative offensive guy is a huge step in the right direction. We have to show these recruits that we have a system that they can showcase talents and succeed in. With that said, under new leadership and winning ball games with a fresh exciting offense Miami should easily dominate the coastal as it relates to talent and slowly creep closer to clemson and national contention as the staff builds. It's still Miami, multicultural, great weather, great education, home games at the Rock, IPF, and you get to be a part of theU family forever.

Let's buy Richt out and charge it to the game before we lose the momentum that has been generated. It's a hit to the program now but we win at the end of the day. I will admit, I'm too proud a Cane to suffer any longer under this leadership. Our HC may have progressed beyond stubbornness to full senile. And he has no one he respects to get in his head and give him the heartfelt truth. Sad. He can not accept the end to a great career in coaching.

Interesting reading all of this but when I said this aftet the bowl game and Lsu.. He is who he is. We may not win anothet coastal with this guy. He has brown and j richt as his yes men.

How successful was he really? He averaged about 9 wins a year and got fired. Never really won anything of significance in 15 years at a marquee P5 job. Constantly on the hot seat.

He was financially successful, but, from a football standpoint, he was nowhere near successful enough to be resistant to change. ****, arguably the best HC in the history of college football (Sabag) is constantly evolving.
This. People fell all over themselves to make him a king because he was okay at a big program. Truth is, he racked up that record because he was fortunate to inherit low expectations and barely exceed them. Kept him around. Win a meaningful game now and then. Lose to Florida. Try again next year. Any worse he wouldn’t last. Not sure there is another major program he could have done that at. Higher expectations and he’d have been fired sooner. Worse talent access and he’d have been fired sooner. Georgia was his perfect job but he couldn’t win there.

A proud person doesn’t stand around week after week embarrassing and humiliating himself and his employer and fans. That’s not my definition of proud. Delusional perhaps. Proud no.
He’s headed down the path of Corrado “Junior” Soprano. Before too long he will be waxing poetic to some Asian kid about his exploits as a coach before he p!sses himself and gets the snot beaten out of him. Hardly proud.

Fans have been saying what you just said for 20 years on these sites. And yet we’re a couple seasons away from having one title in 30 years, amd that one only because Butch was the goat talent evaluator. The belief you have that it is easy is a big part of the problem that has prevented UM from understanding what it needs.

This program has never won without great coaches and/or unparallelled talent. The only controllable for the AD is get the right coach. This ain’t going to be easy.

Evaluate for yourself:

Finally, Richt reiterated, when asked about play-calling, his belief that UM’s offensive problems have nothing to do with the game plan, and that coaches have an array of good options for every situation.
“It’s a matter of can you execute them or not,’’ he said. “So, the plays aren’t bad. The plays are executed not enough on a consistent basis, and that’s for us as coaches to make sure they can do that. That’s the battle right now.’’

I read this earlier and literally punched a dent through my closet door. This quote ****ed me off so much. The “So the plays aren’t bad. The plays are executed not enough on a consistent basis” line ****ed me all the way off. This dude is sabotaging us.

What he's saying is that it's basically on the coaches then...bc the coaches coach up the players. If the players across the board can't get it right, it's on the coaches. Particularly damning statement for Stacy Searless, that dude needs to be the first one pink slipped this off season

I agree, I didn’t reinvent the wheel just came to some realizations. Easy was not the right word but this situation has been made a lot harder than it should’ve been because our admin isn’t competent.

We had Greg schiano and Mark Richt over Butch Davis and Dan Mullen tells me everything I need know.

I don’t think my thinking that there is an easy fix made this any harder. I have no power in this situation. I’m not sure if Blake James understands the culture of Miami football as well as me either. I doubt he goes to high school games, he didn’t grow up in the area, and doesn’t talk to coaches from the area. I don’t even know if he ever played football growing up

Good plys poorly executed is the sort of thing a true lunatic says. Coaches do scheme, game plan and play calling. Talkimbout plays good, execution bad is idiotic. All plays are great on paper. Saying so out loud is weird. It’s your dang job. Do it.

The plays suck. The coaching also sucks. Richt deserves the pink slip, not just searels.

As the OC? absolutely...like last season chit canned...I said it before, that was the most painful 10 win season I have ever witnessed.
