Is Ole Miss Actually Good?

Not schemed the same way on O and neither had the qb to expose many types of defenses and deal with pressure. Chambliss is the best combo of physical traits and arm talent we have seen all year and its not close. A true dual threat qb. He has only thrown 3 ints all year. Reece was always limited with respect to accuracy and ability to process and deliver the football after making more than 1 read in a progression. OSU qb was a statue. Tate and Jerimiah two different types of wrs compared to Ole miss guys that have much more wiggle and quickness.
I’m talking about the receivers. Ole miss guys have a really good group no doubt but they do NOT have more wiggle than Texas A&M guys. They were the most explosive duo in the sec with craver and concepcion

How many Briles based offenses have finished top 5 in offense in the last 15 years and how many times have they won a championship 🏆

They are a PIA but beatable. We beat one of em this year already
The difference is that most of the Veer and Shoot offenses are being run by teams with average talent at best. Like pretty much every offensive innovation in football, it was designed to help less talented offenses match up against the powerhouse teams. Mississippi has much better talent than say, USF who also runs a similar system. We were just able to engulf USF’s offensive line and overpower them easily. Ole Miss is better at every position. They can’t hang with our front head to head but between odd formations, no huddle pace and a mobile quarterback, we will have out hands full.

The offense is going to have to do some of the heavy lifting this week. Our best chance of slowing them down is with a fresh defensive line. They play too fast for us to go three and out and punt the ball right back to them. We need to move the ball consistently. I’m talking about drives that get three or four first downs, even if they don’t end in points. The good news is, this is a very average defense and we should be able to run on them similar to what we did against A&M.
Ole Miss will make Miami pay for just FGs.

I fully expect Ole Miss to run a ton of quick game and boots, as has been stated by others.

After watching some film, I think Ole Miss will have a better combo of WR talent and playcalling to maximize said talent, than Texas AM and Ohio State.

LB’s and Safeties will really need to play well to slow them down.

Two big questions for me:
1. Can our DL finish sacks? Our guys will really need to complete the sack against TC

2. What’s our LB rotational and who is gonna spy TC? When he steps up and scrambles we need to have someone with speed ready to take him down for minimal gains

On offense, we gotta score 35+, and drastically win the time of possession. Their LBs are mid, so off tackle runs and intermediate routes should be utilized. Also, I’d like to see RBs on screens and swings too

If we have to score 35+ to win then I don’t like our chances.

We won’t need to score 35 to win.

Unless Ole Miss scores every time they have the ball, which they won’t.

We've played 14 games, 6 of which were against top 25 scoring offenses, and the most points we've given up is 24 and the average against them is 13. We've played running QBs, pocket QBs, elusive QBs and the results have all been the same. I am nervous af about this game but penciling in Ole Miss for 35 points just for showing up is driven by either fear or being an Ole Miss homer.

Maybe the dude plays the game of his life. Maybe the defense suddenly collapses. But when you have a sample size of 6 teams with similar scoring potential and offensive efficiency potential it's difficult to suddenly say Miami will do something they haven't done all year. Texas A&M and Ohio State each had 10 games where they scored over 27.

What are you talking about????

Who is penciling in Ole Miss for 35pts???

Yup that’s me an Ole Miss homer

Yes. But it's a finesse football team and none of the competition they had played with the physicality and the talent that we played with.

Georgia is slower on defense compared to us, and they don't pressure as vertically as we do.

OSU is better than Ole Miss. But at this point, anybody can beat anybody

I know Chambliss is a God in some people’s minds, but if our DL can keep him in the pocket, we’ll eat. Amost every big play he made vs UGA was out of structure. If we rush with integrity, we'll be fine, this isn’t a track meet to the QB; it’s about setting the edge, slow rush, and forcing him to throw from an uncomfortable pocket.

This Ole Miss team is as legit as legit can get. And this time - we are the hunted instead of the hunters. So they have the advantage of having that “us vs the world” edge.

Although - I think our guys are locked in at this point and can actually smell it. We were given a chance and our guys know Miami is usually screwed in those toss up situations…..I think we get it done gents, but it will be our most difficult test to date.

When you look at both of these squads I don’t think there’s any question Miami is the better overall team. Much better defense, better O-Line, better D-Line, etc. When you get right down to it, Ole Miss is a “solid” team that has two unbelievably dynamic players that carry them, but when you start dissecting each position you start to feel better and better. The only chance Ole Miss has in this game is for Lacy/Chambliss to have another repeat performance of the Georgia game which I don’t see happening. I’m going to make a prediction that Fletcher and Co. will rush for 200 in this game to keep the ball out of the hands of Ole Miss’ offense, and also to give our defense a breather from all the tempo I imagine they’ll be running. Unless Chambliss plays “The game of his life part 2” against us, I actually think this game could get out of hand.

Miami 34
Ole Miss 17
I agree this game will not be close. Run the ball control the clock and make them press on offense that backyard ball is not gonna work on us 2 touchdown lead by halftime 3.5 is free for bettors
