Is Lashlee the most significant hire since Butch?

Next year when Lashlee is offered a HC job would miami be better of with him as HC or Manny. I give Manny props for turning things around but I think Lashlee is more important and has a higher ceiling. Not saying Manny won't be great without him but I think about the falcons letting Shanahan leave then the team regressed. Hopefully I'm wrong.
No. How often have we seen coordinators flop as HCs?
We’d need another Lashlee level OC, not Lashlee as HC.

This response made me chuckle. I'm glad you feel extensions should only be given for doing well. Unfortunately, in the real world, nearly every single Power 5 team does what we did with Richt. You know it and I know it.
Yep, and maybe there's a reason why only 4 or 5 of those Power 5 schools are ever legitimate national champions. They're the ones that don't extend a coach's contract when they're ******** up.

It's the old "doing the same thing, expecting different results" dilemma.
A coach, when he has 2-3 years left on their deal a program will either **** can them or extend them, otherwise in recruiting they come across as a lame duck coach a school isn't fully committed to. I showed a half dozen examples today from just the last couple of years. I can come up with more if you like.

It has nothing to do with a program being run well. It is standard operating procedure.
You must be new around recruiting or you'd know that there's always a reason to negatively recruit. They have a canned response for every situation. Some I've heard:
  • They're too good, you'll never see the field
  • They're no good, their corch will get fired
  • Miami's dangerous, they're getting murdered on campus.
I can go on, but you get the point.

You bring up an EXCELLENT point.

There are far more successful coordinators than there are successful coordinators who became successful head coaches.
