Is it Dawson? Mario? Mirabal? Or Yes?

Beck has 5 300+ games in 2023, 4 in 2024, and 1 in 2025. SMU defense lives off of turnovers and gives up a ton of passing yards. This is the perfect game for Beck to put up 300-400 yards. Follow that up with another vs Cuse and VT.

Heading into the season based on coaches reports on Beck (and maybe his complexion) the expectation was that he was going to command the offense at the same level as Cam mentally, potentially better. This was the narrative that fostered the whole efficiency stuff.
IMO, that was the most sickening part of the entire off-season. Watching so many people belittle Cam and say Beck would be better without a doubt because he would take the check down

Dawson would have left 2 years if he was not allowed to run HIS offense. he aint making a mill a year for someone else to call the plays
I’m sure he was presented with some intriguing offers after last season but didn’t take any, obviously. He can’t be too unhappy/handcuffed here. Unless he’s freaky and into that sort of thing..

Cam had the same plays called but when they broke down he got creative, running the ball, shovel passes..we haven't seen Beck do any of that. Thats where great separates from average.

JJ said that we don't get beat, we beat ourselves...the Louisville game we did that and mainly via Becks int's. How many times did we leave points on the field in a 3 point loss?

I agree but do think Mario handcuffed him last game bc of Becks poor performance against Louisville. I’m not worried Dawson will get it right just needs the caveman to not coach so scared

I think that SD called a lot of inside zone in the first half [as he has done in other games such as against the Irish] with the belief that our OL would maul the DL. This game it did not. In particular the DT won against our C-repeatedly. I don’t know if SD thought the tide would turn, whether he was ordered to keep running into the stationary fat guys, or he is simply a well-paid idiot. What I do know is that in the second half our run game moved outside of the fat guys and that worked much better. So, either his orders changed, he got a brain transplant, or just perhaps, when we could not physically dominate the Stanford DL, he made adjustments that actually worked. Would I have preferred that we adjust after the first drive? Sure. But, he has seen our OL much more than I have. I suspect that his confidence was higher than mine. But, I confess that if Beck played just a little better, we all would be talking about tailgating at the NC game. We might still get to have those conversations, but if we don’t, it will not be because SD called bad plays.
