Is Indiana Actually Good?

He has hit 37 (HB) a few times on crossers. Until you stop the Indiana run game with your front 4/6 guys, why not throw it up one on one with the 6'4 WRs? Miami has to stop the run and allow our Safeties to play back with the potential to pick him off or at least hit Becker, Cooper, Sarratt, and Williams Jr. If I'm Indiana, I make sure the 37 and Hemby are ready for some passes as they can run past LBers that are over committed to run stopping.

Indiana is 127th in pace. They run their offense just like Taint does.... slow and methodical, allowing our defense to rest and get set.

But they play the exact way we're built to handle. They generate a lot of TFLs...guess what we're REALLY good at avoiding? They're 13th in the country in sacks per game....guess what we don't allow?

IMO the whole game comes down to how do we handle Mendoza on 3rd down? They have the best 3rd down offense of the past decade, and Mendoza is on a heater right now. Will they be able to protect him and give him 3 seconds to throw, unbothered? If so, they're going to win, because they're going to convert 3rd downs. If we can keep them in 3rd and medium/long, and pressure him, we're going to get them off the field. But keep an eye on the 3rd down numbers, it's how they make their bones. They have converted 57% this season, that's genuinely historic. Our #1 offense in school history last season finished at 55%. If we look up halfway through the 2nd quarter and they're something like 2/5 or 2/6 on 3rd down, we should be winning and have a good shot to win the game. If they convert 60% on us, they're gonna score a lot of points and we're in trouble.

But I love this matchup. They're smart and disciplined on defense....well, we don't do anything exotic, we just line up and whip your *** and get the ball to playmakers on the outside. They're slow and efficient on offense....well, we have the best DL in pass rush in America, but we're not super deep, so tempo and a quick passing game neutralizes that.

We're gonna win #6.

With 20 players affected by the flu. Nah yo, that and the penalties which can be attributed to feeling like 💩 we beat Ole Miss by 2 tds.

IU has our attention which is good. We take them lightly we lose. We won’t.

they play near perfect ball. no turnovers, no penalties.we have to play a clean game like we played against Ohio State then do our thing on offense and we can win.

Isn't that the formula we used back in the day (i.e., smaller, faster lineman) to beat all those fat, slow midwest teams, including NU for our first natty in '84? Speed kills they say. But I feel good that our OL has speed AND power which hopefully is able to snuff out their pass rush and ability to stop the run...

not to thread jack but in case any of those jerks come over here to read this thread - has anyone noticed their fans are like the worst elements of the worst fanbases we encounter and dislike - ND, FSU, Ohio State and UF? I have never seen a more contemptable and insufferable lot in all of my days.

Haven’t come across it. I’m sure they feel chesty but I’m sure they’re not as insufferable as OSU fans.

All we heard about before TAMU and OSU were the speed of the DL and LB. I think we have a fair sample size that says our OL have quick feet in addition to their power.

Yeah. That’s exactly it.
I downloaded the script via Indiana’s server hacker system and learned we are also implementing a wishbone offense for this game.

PS. Nebraska’s OL didn’t average 331 back in 84, but hey, you made a zinger!!

PSS. After some quick googling, I discovered the Nebraska OL you referenced did not have a single 300 pounder. Not one. Biggest guy was a tackle who was 6’6” and 290.

I get that but I disagree. My opinion of Indiana is high, but my opinion of Miami gets higher every single week.

If the Indiana that needed a miracle catch to beat a bad Penn State team shows up, or the Indiana that barely beat Iowa, Miami wins (unless Miami commits 17 penalties and 4 turnovers).
