Yesteryear, the question “Is he a Miami guy?” was fitting. The world of professional football began & stopped with us. We had a winning culture, that flooded the NFL.
From 1984 (after our 1st title) - 2005 (The last piece from the 2001-2002 classes), here’s what we accomplished:
-5 Nat’l titles
-9 Conference Titles (only b/c we were Independent up until 1991)
-13-8 in bowl games (majority of those bowls are what we now 2day as NY6 bowl games)
-42 first round picks
-6 HOFers (most likely 2 more will be added w/ Frank & Reggie)
-31 pro bowlers

From 2006 - Today
-0 Nat’l Titles or appearances
-1 divisional title / 0 conference titles
-2-10 bowl games (1 NY6 bowl appearance)
-10 first round picks
-7 pro bowlers

From 2010 til now, the production is even worst, no matter what blue chip players have come through. We’ve out recruited EVERY single ACC Coastal team EVERY yr, and have 1 lousy title to show for it. As a result, our shine has dimmed.

Furthermore, as a conference, The SEC has absolutely flooded the NFL w/ overall draft picks, but especially 1st round picks. Therefore, the “perception” is, this is the best conference in all of CFB.

Since 2002,
The ACC has produced 2 champions (FSU, Clemson 2x)
The B1G has produced 1 champion (OSU 2x)
The B12 has produced 1 champion (UT)
The Pac-12 has produced 1 champion (USC 2x)
The SEC has produced 4 champions (Auburn 1x, Bama 6x, LSU 3x, UF 2x)

So yeah, the narrative is going to get thrown around b/c of what’s been accomplished lately by this conference, especially by NFL pundits. We had our turn, they r having theirs, and it’s time for us to take it back. The 2021 draft needs to be a norm & not an anomaly. Start winning The Coastal & stop allowing **** *** teams rep our division in The ACCCG. Then we can start getting back to saying “Is he a Miami a Guy.”
