Is he a Miami guy?

Wow, you guys make up some really creative explanations for our sucking for so long.

How about recruiting and the game changed and it's much harder than you think to keep finding coaches who can win without the benefit of a huge program behind them.

Or ya know, we suck because we don't play in the right building anymore. That's probably it.

Miami HC should be energetic and confident.

Richt is lethargic and (stubbornly) ****y.

Do you have ANY IDEA what it costs to build a football stadium in a big city?

We had to scratch and claw for $40 million to build an IPF. Now the University is going to go and spend $800 million on a football stadium that we use six times a year?

The stupidity on this board is mind-boggling.

Every other college football team in America has managed to build a stadium, yet sonehow you would have us believe that it’s impossible for us

Hard Rock is a first class stadium but it doesn't have the magic of the Orange Bowl.

We have been bringing a ton of Miami guys in, just not enough. Plus our offensive staff couldn't out coach Uncle Luke and refuses to scheme around players.

Because Tad Foote REALLY supported the football program?

I hate to break this awful news to you, but the University of Miami is a school, not a football team.
Cash, I stand on post, now days football is big business, see how much revenue is generated each year
and more to come with ACC network..... BTW when Tad was here we had a HOF AD in Sam J.who had a string of awesome hires in his tenure. We do not have that type of dynamic leadership today from that position.

The last home game against Virginia felt like a funeral at the time - the program is still grieving.
i was there as well 4 G 52 2 best seats i ever had for a couple of seasons. on the 50 upper deck gave us cover from rain
historic football field. have the fun was getting down there and hustling a parking place.....
its been a killer since then, but hope springs eternal

actually i think Mork was the admin;s first attempt at hiring a real coach, they failed as we now know, but the extension was just pure stupidity

u r correct.
since all else has failed we have now entered the realm of supernatural excuses.

Thank you. How’s the weather where you are?

The weather is complete garbage. Foot of snow fell last weekend. -15 outside. Kind of hoping for this weather in the Pinstripe bowl, just to see how Richt and the boys can handle it.

No, it is not.

At almost EVERY SINGLE university in the United States, the Athletic Department basically breaks even. Bigger football program with more revenues? Guess what!? You now get to financially support synchronized swimming!

The money a football program generates subsidizes the rest of the departmental budget. None of them are making money on the net short of five or ten of the truly massive state schools.

1) We do not receive state funds like state universities do.
2) We are situated in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S., with extremely little available land.
3) MOST of these stadiums owned by universities are very, very old, with significant upgrades OVER TIME. As in, not spending $800 million all at once.
4) Learn anything about the city of Coral Gables.

Let's say it costs $800 million for a stadium. Just to use a reasonable number for the metropolitan area. The University could 1) completely flush its endowment, which means the school cannot continue to operate, 2) beg Philip Frost or Jorge Perez for absurd amounts of money, or 3) issue debt.

Option three is the only practical solution. So we issue 30 year bonds that pay something around 6% annually. That's $48 million a year just to cover the interest. Oh, and then we pay back the principal in 30 years.

Please tell me how exactly you envision that working.

If you think a stadium is feasible for the University, you have not done your homework.

And yet evey other university in division 1 football has found a way to make it happen.
