Is he a Miami guy?

I remember when Richt was first hired he went on a lil speaking tour. At one of the stops a lady took him to task about a comment he made about swagger and what swagger is.

She wouldn't back down, contending Richt didn't understand what Miami swagger was. Most called the woman an idiot. How dare she question our new HC about something as dumb as swagger and dancing.

In hindsight, I think this woman knew from the get go Richt wasn't a Miami guy.

In before the richt guys start to cry

I hear you loud and clear...

I would have never agreed with this before this years peanut and corn filled dump, but I’m on the Lane train. He’s been behaving himself. He would score points and do it in style. I don’t think Lane would consider himself a success at Miami until he beat Saban head to head and hoisted the Trophy for the Canes. He would understand...

Go Canes!

ALL ABOARDDDDDDDDD THE LANE TRAIN!!

donna was a Syracuse PHD that was trying to act like she was dean of an ivy league school.
She wanted Barry Alvarez. she is typically liberal. loses poor black people from a distance. they didnt want to recruit the
inner city kids as much. Butch specifically was all about getting kids from the hood.
Is Richt a typical conservative? Old, white, doesnt like change, addicted to the Bible, making 4 mil a year and still blames everything on those below him making peanuts.....yea let’s just Keep politics out of this

I remember in the 30 for 30 where Don Bailey Jr was talking about "Is he a miami guy?" Miami guys are nasty. will fight scratch claw etc.
after seeing richt on the sidelines crying against BC. this is not the fit. JJ was running up schools and getting hard off it. Butch was all about
"Hit stick bust d&*k" our success has always been based around head coaches who were savages. Richt is no different than Coker, Shannon, or
Golden for that matter.
He's a true Nebraskian

Our program died when we left the Orange Bowl. Shalala and Dee could have easily led the campaign to renovate and every time I sit in the stands of Joe Sun Life Land Shark Rock Stadium I am reminded.

No, they could not have, and you're putting your ignorance proudly on display by saying so.

Forget the IPF, admin should have started a campaign to purchase Melreese from the city and build a new Orange Bowl - considering fundraising is the only thing CMR is good at.

Now, a nonexistent/expansion MLS team gets to play home games in Miami, while we get a 45 min drive home after losses to Duke.

Do you have ANY IDEA what it costs to build a football stadium in a big city?

We had to scratch and claw for $40 million to build an IPF. Now the University is going to go and spend $800 million on a football stadium that we use six times a year?

The stupidity on this board is mind-boggling.

You don't get rewarded for stupid choices. I'm convinced neither Miami team will ever win a title in the current venue. Joe Robbie made the first moronic decision and then the Canes brilliantly piled on two decades later.

Meanwhile, the Orange Bowl still holds the record for longest pro winning streak and longest college winning streak.

Miami leaving the Orange Bowl was the right decision. It was an awful one, like shooting a loyal but now rabid dog. The University was in NO POSITION AT ALL to finance renovations. None. Zero. Was not going to happen, still will not happen, probably will not happen in our lifetimes.

Get over it or go be a USF fan.

we have been mired in mediocrity for 15 years and it started with Donna S, whose deemphasis
of Football is felt to this day. when other schools were investing we were cashing checks and investing in U Health .
Still insist that a 7+ team is what school(BOT) wants regardless of what Fake Blake says ?!
how else can you explain choice of Deacon Richt vs. other candidates ?
the Deacon has been on down side past 6+ years at UGA and continues thru current tenure at UM.
we will muddle along at same pace for next couple of years at a 7 win pace, contending for Coastal division
titles but not much else.resistant to change seems scary, since game has changed so much into video football past 3-5 yeras
most concerning quote" these plays have worked for 30 years"
Need change at AD, asap as well........... B.James will never be confused with Sam Jankovich

Because Tad Foote REALLY supported the football program?

I hate to break this awful news to you, but the University of Miami is a school, not a football team.

OMG guys. Things are different now. The 80's are over. The 90's are done. **** even 2000-2005 is long gone. And I'm not talking about winning Miami teams. FOOTBALL IS DIFFERENT NOW. Swagger is so stupid. The NCAA killed it. It's over. Yes you can play with confidence but Swagger and ****iness are long long gone. The skill is too close. You can't take multiple swagger penalties and expect to win. Just cant anymore.

It's about sysytem and schemes. It's about coaching. It's about that delicate balance of coddling the player and pushing him. It's not the days of taking the boys out in 140 degree heat and not giving them water like Bear Bryant did with the Junction Boys. Coaching coaching and coaching, you have to be a x and o's guy and philosopher a psychologist, you have to be on the cutting edge of all this stuff.

I'm so sick of hear about swagger and hit stick bust ****. Yeah go ahead and bust **** and take a bunch of targeting calls and hurt the team and get kicked out of the game. Personally the targeting call is ruining football and it's a joke. Go back to multiple great Miami games where the defence rocked a WR. It was awesome and amazing. But do the exact same hit today. 15 YARD foul and you're gone from the game. Things change. You have to adapt.

The stupidity was early '80s when Schnellenberger was the visionary who nearly pulled it off.

Now the stupidity sources from everyone who looks at the contrived roof and hears the noise and rationalizes that our stadium is awesome and benefits recruiting and everything about Miami football.
