This is very interesting, no wonder we are in this abyss. So in other words, we are moving 10 steps back BEFORE we take 1 step forward.

Understood, I'll be watching a lot less Cane football, basketball, & baseball ( this admin doesn't care about winning) and get this vaccine in due time, so I can enjoy my retirement while traveling. I stopped donating years ago, so I can finally move to south Florida.

Thanks @Bernie 2-0 much appreciated

what he says will never happen in a high level college program. it just doesn't work given how much power college HCs have

works at a small school like that. it won't work here when you are "attempting" to attract higher level coaches (at least thats what we tell ourselves)
Joe Moglia is the (ok a) model. If more people would pay attention, more would realize how revolutionary (ala Saint Schnelly) what he has accomplished there.

Good organizational design works anywhere so long as the right leader is selected and the will remains.

Works the world over from kitchens, rail yards, sports teams, and girl scout cookie sales.

look ill say this, no HC would agree to come here and have his every move been double checked by a dude above him. college coaches are the GMs (no matter who it is). they hire their staff, hire their recruiting dept. they don't really need someone having to sign off on whether they should recruit A or B or hire x and y. it just doesn't seem realistic that a coach would come here under those circumstances. anyways its a nice pie and sky type dream tho
Just because it’s not done already doesn’t mean Miami couldn’t have been the first to try it. But why be a trend setter when mediocrity is acceptable

it doesn't happen in college. in college, the HC is the GM and HC. it inst like the NFL. it was a stupid ******* idea to begin with bc no college coach (whether it be urban or Manny) would be okay with that type of ****. it doesn't mean its a bad idea but its one of those rainbows in the sky to think that actually happens in college.
Maybe if Manny didn't need training wheels, he wouldn't need a real man to drive the program.

I didn't say it would be a bad idea but one that isnt realistic. its better to dream about than to expect it.

that I agree with but we hired a first time HC so it'll take time to get his feet wet. that being said, he gets this coming season to win 10 plus and a coastal or hes gone along with d staff changes.

not sure his ego is as big as you guys make it out to be. hes shown he isnt stubborn so far. hes gonna have a chance to prove that again this offseason. will he? well see but it'll be the next checklist thing he needs to do in order to keep his job

How? How has he proven his ego is not that big?

Was it when he took subtle jabs at Richt w/ his innuendo comments, after Richt gave him a new lease on life?

Was it b/c he fired all of Richt’s offensive staff, who he felt was the problem?

Was it b/c he fired all of Enos’ staff b/c he felt they were the problem?

Will it be if he fires Rumph b/c he feels that he’s the problem?

Ppl keep saying that saying that Diaz has shown a willingness to adjust, and I’m here to call bull chit on that narrative. Diaz has shown a willingness to scape goat anyone that’s on the other side of the ball, as surely he & his side is not the problem. Surely his inability to recruit the position he was once responsible for is not the problem. Surely recruiting 35 strikers, and 2 Safeties is not the problem. Surely passing on CBs who don’t look 6’0+ is not the problem.

Until we see him make a change to the entire defensive philosophy that’s attached to him, it’s a moot narrative.

It happens at Ohio State and other places where powerful ADs are employed not some dude selling stubs a few years ago. Did Ryan Day get the Big 10 to change the rules ?

if you don't think admitting failure to his own offensive hire after one season isnt a willingness to adjust idk what to tell you. he fired the dude HE hired (btw, every coach will fire the previous regimes guys esp on the side they didn't work with closely) and went to a whole diff scheme that worked. the defensive staff will have to go and changes need to be made there, as well.

Small person big ego. Manny has a chance to make needed changes. If he makes them it tells me he’s about winning at all costs. If he trots out the same stuff on D with the same scheme next year, tells me he is a beta that only wants yes men around him.
correct, no-one will ever confuse CMD with JJ, Howard or Butch.... larry C maybe

here is my concern when i hear he fired the offensive staff last year, he did not know them. his D staff is lined with his buddies
Baker, Patka etc. hard to fire your friends but IF,big IF he wants long term success he has to be ruthless
his move his future Golden could not fire his buddy NoD and look what happened ?
same thing with CMD and Baker. let whole staff go and hire a DC with new scheme...

Naw; I don’t.

thats what were all waiting for. this is his next move that he has to take. it will likely be his final one that determines whether hes gonna be retained or not in the future
