And that was the difference between hiring a guy like Highsmith who wanted total control of football operations and a guy like Reed who is a sounding board. Not sure how many of us in Diaz's position would have been ok with hiring Highsmith to scrutinize your every move.

it doesn't happen in college. in college, the HC is the GM and HC. it inst like the NFL. it was a stupid ******* idea to begin with bc no college coach (whether it be urban or Manny) would be okay with that type of ****. it doesn't mean its a bad idea but its one of those rainbows in the sky to think that actually happens in college.

You have been listening! Zo was bringing change to UM and his plan was no nonsense fix this mess. Al wasn’t coming alone and the three people he wanted to hire would have shaken the Gables like a category 5. We are a mouse running on a wheel, not going anywhere. People here could not understand why he wanted to hire his own AD. Do you think maybe he knows how to run a football program unlike the current ticket seller. Zo wanted G to run the business side of football and Al would run football ops from the top down including coaching hires and recruiting and anything else football.He knew what we lacked as he has been on every major college campus in the nation and knows elite and incompetence. The university would not make the move and offered Al a lesser position and Zo said “see ya” and anyone thinks differently is incorrect.

look ill say this, no HC would agree to come here and have his every move been double checked by a dude above him. college coaches are the GMs (no matter who it is). they hire their staff, hire their recruiting dept. they don't really need someone having to sign off on whether they should recruit A or B or hire x and y. it just doesn't seem realistic that a coach would come here under those circumstances. anyways its a nice pie and sky type dream tho

This is very interesting, no wonder we are in this abyss. So in other words, we are moving 10 steps back BEFORE we take 1 step forward.

Understood, I'll be watching a lot less Cane football, basketball, & baseball ( this admin doesn't care about winning) and get this vaccine in due time, so I can enjoy my retirement while traveling. I stopped donating years ago, so I can finally move to south Florida.

And since Manny is hitched to the other mamerto Blake (the AD), I would imagine he would go along with him. You can't hire three disastrous HC's and not pay the price, specially how it seems he hastily hired Manny and some of the BOT were not happy.
